Android and iPhone

You can create and customize your avatar through the Facebook app for Android and iPhone. If you sync your Facebook and Instagram profiles, you can use the same avatar on Instagram and Facebook.

Take a selfie and create an avatar:

From the Facebook app, tap .
Tap Avatars.
Choose the option to Create from Photos.
Tap the Camera Icon to take a selfie to create an Avatar.
Customize your Avatar or tap Done and Save changes to save and create your avatar.

Learn more about creating an avatar with a live selfie. Note: This feature is not available everywhere.

If you do not want to use a live selfie to create an avatar, you can choose to create manually instead:

Select your avatar's skin tone to get started.
Personalize your avatar with hairstyles, outfits and more.
Tap Done and Save changes to save and create your Avatar.

After you create your avatar, you'll be able to use it in new ways to express yourself, from personalized stickers to 1:1 messages.

You can change your avatar from your profile at any time by tapping Avatars in your settings, then tapping Edit Avatar.

You can delete your avatar in the avatar editor by tapping , then tapping Delete. This action is permanent and cannot be reversed. You can create a new avatar at any time by going back to the avatar editor.

Some Facebook users may see a new experience we’re testing that will allow them to generate an avatar using their public profile pictures.
