Visibility and usability settings for Meta Avatars
Is my avatar public?
Your avatar is public, so it can be seen by anyone on or off Facebook. This means people can view other people’s avatar in the same way they can view names and profile pictures. You can always edit or delete your avatar.
Can other people share or interact with my avatar?
You can control who can use or share your avatar. By default, your avatar can be shared or interacted with by your friends.
To update your avatar privacy settings :
iPhone
- From the Facebook app, tap Menu.
- Tap Settings and privacy then tap Avatars.
- Tap Who can share or interact with your avatar?.
- From here, you can choose between these options:
- Everyone (Anyone can share or interact with your avatar in Facebook and Messenger)
- Friends (Only your Facebook friends can share or interact with your avatar)
- Only me
Android
- From the Facebook app, tap Menu.
- Tap Settings and privacy then tap Avatars.
- Tap Who can share or interact with your avatar?.
- From here, you can choose between these options:
- Everyone (Anyone can share or interact with your avatar in Facebook and Messenger)
- Friends (Only your Facebook friends can share or interact with your avatar)
- Only me
Desktop
- From Facebook, click on your profile picture in the top right.
- Click Settings and privacy, then click Avatars.
- Click Who can share or interact with your avatar?
- From here, you can choose between these options:
- Everyone (Anyone can share or interact with your avatar in Facebook and Messenger)
- Friends (Only your Facebook friends can share or interact with your avatar)
- Only me
