Learn about matchmaking in Worlds
When you join a specific world you may be joining one of several different instances of that world, each with different sets of active people. Matchmaking is the process Meta uses to assign you to an instance with others.
Meta may use a mix of signals when matchmaking you with other people, such as the quality and speed of your internet connection, the current in-game location or world you are joining from along with the world that you’d like to join, prior world visits, your skill level from gaming worlds, prior activity such as blocks or audio volume, and your follow/follower relationships. Your activity history in Worlds including unfollowing those you are no longer interested in, treating others with kindness and respect, and improving your skill in gaming worlds will also help us to matchmake you into instances that are best suited for you.
For children who use Worlds, by default we limit the use of personal data for matchmaking to information such as age, chosen language, general location and people a child is connected with. If a child’s parent or guardian chooses to allow the use of other types of data for additional personalization in Horizon Worlds, matchmaking uses additional data such as social gestures like “thanks” and the volume at which the user might like to comfortably hear things.
