There are a few different PINs, passcodes and pairing codes you may encounter while using your Meta Quest or Meta Horizon account. If you are stuck and need help, contact Meta support.
Authentication and pairing codes
Device pairing code
A device pairing code is used to connect the Meta Horizon mobile app with your headset. It is made up of 5 digits and is displayed in your headset when you first set it up.
A headset’s device pairing code will always be the same, even after a factory reset. In some circumstances, you may not need to enter a device pairing code to connect to the app.
Log in code
If you are logged out of your headset or are adding your profile to a secondary device, you may need to visit www.meta.com/device and enter a unique code. This 8 character, alphanumeric code will be shown on the device.
Pins and passcodes
Device passcode
A device passcode creates an extra layer of security for your Meta Quest headset. It is made up of between 4 and 16 digits. You can use your passcode to prevent others from accessing your device, saved passwords or locked apps.
Having a device passcode is optional. If you factory reset your headset, your passcode will be erased and you'll need to create a passcode again.

Meta Quest PIN (purchases)
When you create a Meta account and set up your device, you’ll be asked to create a 4 digit Meta Quest PIN. This is used to verify your identity and to simplify purchasing in the Meta Horizon Store.
As the PIN is associated with your account, all of your Meta Quest devices share the same PIN. You can opt in or out of having to use your PIN to make purchases at any time.

Other codes
End-to-end backup encryption PIN
If you have cloud backup turned on, you can choose to secure your backups with end-to-end encryption. You'll need to create a 6 digit end-to-end encryption PIN in order to secure your cloud backups with end-to-end encryption. This lets you restore your backups after a factory reset or when you set up a new device.
You can set up your phone as a recovery device should you forget or want to change your end-to-end encryption PIN. You can opt out of end-to-end encryption at any time.
