See below for tips on compatibility, setup and pairing, the controller LEDs, controller buttons, and how to change the batteries in your Meta Touch Plus controllers.

At this time, Meta Quest Touch Plus controllers can only be used with Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S.

To pair your Touch Plus controllers to your Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S headset:

  1. Make sure your headset is turned on, then open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
  2. Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
  3. Tap Devices.
  4. Select the headset you want to pair controllers to.
  5. Tap Headset settings, then tap Controllers.
  6. Tap Pair New Controller.
  7. Choose which controller you'd like to pair.
  8. Press and hold the Meta button and B button on your right controller or Menu button and Y button on your left controller until the controller LED blinks and then lights up to finalize the pairing.

Once you've paired your controllers, the controllers will automatically connect to your headset each time you turn it on, if it's nearby.

Note: If you're using unsupported third party controller accessories, such as sleeves, covers, or stickers, you may experience issues with controller pairing or tracking. If this happens, we recommend removing the unsupported accessory to see if that resolves the issue.

Each Meta Quest Touch Plus controller is equipped with an LED status display light at the top edge of the controller to help you understand its current status. To check the status of your controller, press Meta button / Menu button once.

  1. While the SOS is flashing, remove and reinsert the battery.
  2. Restart your headset.
  3. Unpair and re-pair your controllers to your headset using the Meta Horizon mobile app. Ensure that your headset is awake and nearby.
  4. Use the software update tool to check for and install any available updates.
  5. Perform a hard reboot. Hold down the power button for 30 seconds or until you hear the device reboot again.

Below is a list of some of the most common uses for Touch Plus controller buttons in headset. Keep in mind, individual apps will likely have their own controls and tutorials for using your Touch Plus controllers.

  • Thumbsticks navigate your virtual environment.
  • Trigger (on the front of the controller), A button and X button select objects in your environment.
  • B button and Y button return you to the previous screen or menu.
  • Meta button brings up the Navigator. You can also press and hold Meta button to recenter your headset view.
  • Grip button (on the side of the controller) grabs objects or makes a fist when using your virtual hands.
  • Menu brings up the menu inside apps and experiences.
  • You can press any button to wake the controllers after you turn on your headset.

Note: Individual apps may include their own tutorials for how to use the buttons on your controllers.

When the battery level in your controller is low, the status display lights on your controller in headset will show 1 red dot.

To change the battery in your Touch Plus controller:

  1. Press the battery cover release button located near the thumbstick on the side of your controller.
  2. Remove the battery cover.
  3. Carefully remove the existing battery.
  4. Insert a new battery, ensuring the positive end is pointed downward towards the bottom of the controller.
  5. Replace the battery cover.

Third party controller attachments are not currently supported by Meta Quest and may cause tracking issues. If you experience tracking issues or other problems with an accessory, we recommend removing it. Only first party Meta Quest accessories guarantee optimal tracking performance.

  • Third-party controller covers and attachments are known to cause tracking problems, especially attachments that move the controller away from your hand. Since these accessories are not currently supported, Meta recommends that you use first party Meta accessories to prevent controller tracking or pairing issues.
  • Meta Quest Touch Plus controllers use AI to offer reliable tracking without requiring a tracking ring. This technology relies on controllers being held in-hand and being visible to the headset’s cameras. This AI-based solution enables future tracking improvements which are not possible with our earlier generation controllers.
  • Accessories that may have worked for Meta Quest 2 controllers may not work for Meta Quest 3 controllers.
