Wondering what's new with Meta Quest? Check out our release notes to learn about the latest new features and enhancements we've made to your Meta Quest experience.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of February 18, 2025 and will be pushed to Meta Quest 3, 3S, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
Minimized 2D applications are now shown above the universal menu, making it easy to see which applications are still open. Select a minimized application to bring it back into view.
Seamless multitasking is rolling out gradually for global availability. Multitask more effectively by keeping the universal menu and up to three windows open while focusing on immersive experiences. This can be used to look up information, watch videos, or chat with friends while staying engaged with your immersive games and apps.
Secondary users can now connect to the Meta Horizon mobile app. For Quest owners with multiple profiles on their headset, this means that the secondary profiles can take full advantage of mobile app features such as casting and viewing battery or controller status. This update is especially helpful for parents whose child or teen is a secondary user and they’d like to have their child cast to a mobile phone.
It is now possible for Quest 3 headsets to cast/mirror directly to external displays with high resolution and low latency. To get started, just connect your Quest 3 and external display using a USB C cable that supports Display Port Alt Mode. This supports streaming of video only.
The Meta Quest Link app now includes system tray support, giving quick access to device status and quick actions while Meta Quest Link is running in the background.
Easily access your favorite websites by adding a shortcut to your Library. To add a shortcut, go to your favorite website in Browser, select the menu icon at the top right and select Add this page to your library. Now you can launch that website directly from your library.
This setting uses a real-time algorithm to provide a better sounding balance between the microphone and game audio. When you choose to include the microphone in your video recordings, this new feature will result in hearing your microphone more clearly.
You have the option to turn this off and set manual levels for your relative microphone and game audio levels.
If your device detects that your experience would be enhanced by turning on travel mode, you’ll be prompted to do so through the existing tracking dialogs.
Night display has been updated to improve the consistency of color balance, white point and warmth in passthrough experiences. To enable night display, go to Quick settings and select Night display.
Enabled spatial audio in 2D calling applications like Whatsapp and the People app. Spatial audio allows audio from select windows to sound like it is coming from the position of the window in your physical space.
A new dialog will let you know when an app has crashed. You have the option to report the problem to expedite the fix.
For those who wish to share the fun of Meta Quest with their friends and family, we have significantly improved the reliability of our casting options. To get started casting, select Cast in the quick settings menu.
We’ve improved the experience when scanning multiple rooms during space setup. Move from one room to the next without interruption and create a complete scan of your space in a single, continuous session.
We’ve improved the transition experience from home to an immersive app, reducing the likelihood of having to wait through a black screen while your selected app loads.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of December 9, 2024 and will be pushed to Meta Quest 3, 3S, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
With the new Gallery app, you’ll be able to more easily view, manage, and share your Meta Quest or Meta Horizon Worlds captured media. If you own multiple Quest devices, the Gallery app provides you with access to media you may have captured across all your devices. It will be even easier to view your spatial or panoramic uploaded media from the Meta Horizon mobile app with a dedicated immersive viewing experience. The Gallery app will be accessible from your Library or linked from within your Camera App.
We’ve made hand tracking more stable and responsive when navigating the universal menu and in apps, making it easier to interact with your hands in mixed reality. The cursor is now stabilized as you pinch your fingers together, so making selections should be more accurate. We also improved the responsiveness and stability of drag-and-drop interactions like dragging a Browser tab into a new window. The cursor should also perform more predictably and naturally when your hands are close to your body. Finally, new cursor visuals should help locating and targeting elements with your hands.
Meta is partnering with Microsoft to make Quest a natural extension of your Windows 11 PC. Later this month, people can preview easily connecting their Quest to a Windows 11 PC. Once you’ve done the initial setup, all you’ll have to do is look at your Windows 11 PC and you’ll be prompted to pair. Learn more to get started.
The new Facebook app for Meta Quest is also getting an update this month. With v72, we’re adding the ability for you to watch your friends’ Stories, as we work to bring the Facebook app for Meta Quest up to parity with its flatscreen counterparts.
Spark conversations with friends in your Instagram DMs on Meta Quest.
We have added the ability for people to turn on live captions with speaker attribution when they are on a call in Meta Quest.
Travel mode now has an indicator on the universal menu to help you know when travel mode is turned on.
We are making improvements to our keyboard tracking for Quest 3 and Quest 3S devices to track more physical keyboards than before. We are moving away from tracking specific keyboard models to a more generalized solution. Additionally, a passthrough cutout will show the keyboard when you’re in the immersive Horizon Home environment, allowing you to work productively in mixed reality. Your virtual hands will be automatically hidden and input ignored when they’re close to your physical keyboard, avoiding interruptions from false interactions. Hand and body tracking must be enabled to see the passthrough cutout appear as you bring your hands close to your keyboard. Additionally, tracked physical keyboards will no longer be supported on Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest Pro. You can enable tracked keyboards by going to Settings, selecting Devices then selecting Keyboards.
Links from windows are now more consistent and predictable, ensuring smoother and more reliable navigation across your experience.
In v72, when booting into VR home, you’ll get an automatic stationary boundary. When users enter a VR App, a roomscale boundary is triggered; you won’t be prompted to find or create a boundary if one is already set up. Meta Quest will automatically detect and use the boundary set up near you.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of November 4, 2024 and will be pushed to Meta Quest 3, 3S, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
We’ve redesigned Settings in Meta Quest to be more clearly organized, making it easier for you to find the settings you need. We’ve also improved the Search function in case you want to search for specific settings.
Calendar can help you keep track of your schedules through integrations with Google and Outlook Calendars, as well as entry points to access Horizon Events and Workrooms Meetings.
We made it easier to access Remote Desktop throughout Meta Horizon OS with a new entry point in Quick Settings.
You can now do more with the Meta Quest Link app.
Cast from your headset to the Meta Quest Link PC app, a new way for you to share your Meta Quest experience with others.
Use Meta Quest Link to access Remote Desktop on Quest - meaning you don't need to download the separate Meta Quest Remote Desktop app to access your computer from anywhere on Quest.
We’re extending support for travel mode to be used when on a train.
You can now adjust your call volume, and app and media volume independently from other volume sources. You can find these advanced controls by going to Quick Settings, and clicking on the advanced option right next to the master volume. Learn more about Volume Mixer.
You can now pair a third-party stylus to your headset without using the mobile app. This feature can be found in the Settings app under Devices.
We’ve added real-time permissions indicators to the universal menu so you know which apps are accessing your device. Learn more about permissions.
Send and receive videos with friends and family through Horizon Chats in the Meta Quest app or in VR using your Meta Quest headset. Capture and send videos from your phone's camera roll or from your VR video gallery. Compress videos for smooth playback.
Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Surround will support content utilizing 3 degrees of freedom (DoF) head tracking. This will be supported content on select websites in Browser and we plan to expand to other service providers soon. Learn more about Dolby Atmos and Dolby Digital Surround on Meta Quest.
Audio to Expression is a new machine perception and AI capability that derives compelling facial motion and lip sync signals from your microphone input. Unlike earlier versions of Lipsync that only animate the mouth, this capability provides upper face movements including upper cheeks, eyelids, and eyebrows to bring full expressivity to your characters. Available as part of the Movement SDK, developers can access Audio to Expression to provide users with enhanced social presence through more comfortable and expressive characters. Even more impressive, Audio to Expression does all of this at a fraction of the app CPU load required by Lipsync, freeing more bandwidth for apps to use to make their app more compelling.
We’ve enabled an in-headset pairing flow for tracked controllers without needing to use the Meta Horizon mobile app.
We’ve improved the camera frame rates to align with your display frame rates.
You will be able to resume space setup by continuing scanning your existing room with updates to the room layout and furniture. You will no longer need to start a fresh scan to keep the room up to date.
You will now see a miniature representation of your scanned environment after completing a scan of the room and when returning to Space Setup to update the scan.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of September 5, 2024 and will be pushed to Meta Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
Beginning in October, v69 will be required for those enjoying Meta Horizon social experiences such as Horizon Worlds, Horizon Workrooms, and co-presence. Those who have not yet upgraded will be prompted to update to v69 before they can access these experiences.
We’ve introduced a new way to invoke Meta AI by using your voice. When you turn on this feature in Meta AI Settings, you can say “Hey Meta” to engage with the assistant. Learn more about Meta AI assistant.
In v67, we announced a new window layout for Meta Quest that was accessible from the Experimental Settings. Now in v69, this window layout will be turned on for everyone.
Audio from select windows will sound like it's coming from those windows' locations around you, which can provide richer and more realistic audio. This does not affect audio within fully immersive apps.
Take care of visual clutter in your library with the ability to completely remove unwanted apps and worlds, including leftover apps that you’ve already uninstalled. Select “Remove from library” from the app or world’s library menu and make it easier to find and access your content.
You can now quickly pair supported Bluetooth devices like headphones, keyboards, mice, and gamepads when they’re in pairing mode and near your headset. Turn on [Get nearby device notifications] in your Bluetooth settings to get notified when a nearby device is available for pairing, and select the notification to pair.
You can now multitask more effectively by keeping the universal menu and up to three windows open during immersive experiences. This can be used to look up information, watch videos, or chat with friends while staying engaged with your immersive games and apps. Seamless Multitasking can be enabled in Experimental Settings.
Improves contrast and battery life by adjusting the backlight of your headset based on the content you’re viewing.
Your boundary is more dynamic now with frictionless access to Meta Horizon Home. By automatically placing you into a stationary boundary when you visit your Home, you’ll no longer have to repeatedly find or create a room scale boundary. You’ll still be asked to create a room scale boundary when you open immersive experiences that require them.
Improves the behavior of the head tracked cursor to stay hidden when it’s not wanted, such as watching a movie or using 2D apps, and appears when you need it.
You are now able to view the last 7 days of sensitive permission access by installed apps through a new panel within your Settings.
We are making privacy settings easier to use with Meta Horizon Worlds, and simplifying settings for everyone in a few ways:
Tracked stylus devices including Logitech MX Ink can now be used to interact with the universal menu. You can learn how to use it, configure its button mapping, and adjust its pressure sensitivity in Stylus settings.
Escape to the Oceanarium, our latest Horizon Home. Immerse yourself in an underwater world filled with seaweed and anemones that flow with the gentle ocean currents. Get up close and personal with sea turtles, manta rays, and even a majestic whale while you experience the beauty of the ocean like never before.

Passthrough is the fundamental mixed reality capability that allows users to comfortably view and interact with the physical world while wearing a headset. Today we are announcing a number of improvements to the passthrough experience that will roll out to all users on Quest 3 with the v64 release.
Improved resolution
We have improved the perceived resolution for passthrough by optimizing the passthrough pipeline. This makes it easier for users to see finer details and read smaller text in the real world - such as notifications on a smartphone screen.
Improved image quality
We have fine tuned the camera processing pipeline to improve color, exposure, contrast and dynamic range in passthrough. This makes color passthrough better match the real world. We’re making it easier to visit and revisit your favorite worlds. You can now access worlds from the Worlds tab in your App Library.
We’ve made some enhancements to Safe Browsing on Meta Quest Browser by integrating Meta's secure website database. Safe Browsing currently uses Google Safe Browsing to protect you from deceptive websites, phishing attempts, malware distribution, and social engineering attacks. Meta’s secure website database provides an additional layer of security to help keep you safe while using Meta Quest Browser.
We are introducing cloud computing capabilities that improve your headset's ability to remember more boundaries using point cloud data, so you can spend less time redrawing boundaries.
As part of our effort to continue bringing improvements to our in-market products, in v60 we are enabling higher clock speeds for Quest Pro CPU and GPU when running MR applications, giving you a smoother MR app experience and a more responsive UI. This update also adds more power for developers to take advantage of for both existing and upcoming apps.
These performance improvements include (when compared to Quest Pro at launch):
If you have cloud backup turned on, you can now secure your backups with your own pin for end-to-end encryption. Suggested boundary will run anytime you launch an app and a boundary isn’t available in your space. You can also access Boundary from Physical Space in Settings.
Spaces allow games to interact with your environment, enabling virtual content to collide with or hide behind real-world objects or furniture. With assisted Space Setup, your device can run a quick 3D scan of your environment, creating a simple representation of the surfaces in your room, including walls, tables, and other furniture, so you won’t have to manually add them into your space.
Assisted space setup will run automatically when you launch an app that uses mixed reality or you can access Space Setup from Physical Space in Settings.
We’re adding an optional setting that will let you improve battery life on your device by lowering the graphics settings. You can find Battery Saver under Power in System Settings.
You can navigate to a new Activities tab in the People panel. This tab displays relevant activities that groups members are currently engaged in, along with active call and app invites you can use to join people and play together.
You can now add reactions to messages, send images, and use avatar stickers to express yourself in Chat in VR and on the Meta Quest mobile app.
We’re making improvements to the way your hands appear while using passthrough, making it more comfortable to interact with panels and apps while in mixed reality.
You can now use a swipe gesture to dismiss notifications.
Your avatar will now have legs when you’re in Horizon Home.
We’ve added a shortcut to First Encounters in your Horizon Home. First Encounters is an easy way to discover what’s possible with mixed reality on Quest 3. You’ll find this available in Desert Terrace, Space Station, Winter Lodge, and the Quest 3 Home environments. Select the spaceship to check it out!
You can now report a bug by pressing /

These features and enhancements will gradually become available starting the week of September 11, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
You can now freely teleport within your Home, similar to how you can teleport to move around in many VR apps. Press your controller thumbstick forward to bring up the teleporter, aim at a spot in your Home and release the thumbstick to teleport. You can also use the pinch gesture with your hands by touching your forefinger to your thumb to bring up the teleporter.
We’re making it easier to invite friends to join your group. Now you can generate a link to your group and share it in VR or copy and paste it into any messaging platform you want.
We’re making it easier to meet up with your friends in VR by inviting your group to different experiences. Now you can easily invite your group to an app from your People tab. Also, when you invite a group from within an app, the invite will display in the group chat so everyone can see it and easily join you.
You can now unsend image messages in VR and in the Meta Quest mobile app by hovering over or tapping on a message and selecting Unsend.
We’re updating our hand tracking tutorial to show you all the ways in which you can use your hands as controllers in VR, including Direct Touch. You can find the updated tutorial tutorial in the Guide app.
When you turn on your Meta Quest headset your contact list will automatically open. This makes it easy to chat with and meet up with your friends, no matter what you're doing in VR. If you close your contacts list, you can always reopen it from the People tab.
You can now set a default option to include or not include microphone audio when recording video.
Horizon Feed is replacing Explore. Horizon Feed is the landing surface in VR where you can find apps, entertainment and community. Discover your new favorite app, watch Reels from Instagram or Facebook, and travel to popular destinations.
You can now use multiple apps simultaneously in a near and far configuration, allowing you to interact with your hands or controllers. To switch between views, select Switch view from the Quick Settings panel.
You can customize the color of your avatar’s hair, eyebrows, and more, using the real-time avatar editor mirror available in select Home Environments.
Some apps with mixed reality experiences no longer trigger a boundary warning when you approach or pass the boundary area, allowing people to safely enjoy the experience without interruption. You’ll know the boundary is turned off by a notification when you launch the app.
We are removing a casting feature from the Meta Quest mobile app on iPhone which allowed you to simultaneously capture your VR experience and your real-life experience using your phone camera.
These features and enhancements will gradually become available starting the week of July 24, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
If you have your Facebook account in the same Accounts Center as your Meta account, you can now livestream from VR to Facebook by selecting Start Livestream from Camera on the universal menu.
We’re adding system level closed captioning for audio from 2D apps, videos, and other media. You can turn closed captions on by going to Accessibility in Settings and selecting Hearing, then Live Captions.
Note: At this time, closed captioning on Quest does not capture speech from other players.
You can now customize the button mapping on your Touch controllers to any layout you prefer by going to Accessibility in Settings and selecting Mobility, then Re-map Controllers.
Note: Some apps may still refer to the default button mapping.
To make it easier to get into the action when you put on your headset, we’re adding the ability to keep your headset software and apps updated when your headset is powered off and charging. Your headset will briefly power on to apply available app updates and power off when updates are complete. You may hear your headset’s fans during this process.
Your microphone and cameras will always remain off until you put your headset on and press the power button. You can control this feature from Software Updates in System Settings.
You can now invite people to join you in an app from your followers list in People as well as from chats and groups.
You can now select a default option for whether or not you want your microphone audio to be included when recording a video by going to Camera in System Settings and selecting the toggle next to Include Mic Audio.
We’re adding the ability to swipe to type using the virtual keyboard. You can enable this feature from Experimental in Settings.
We’ve made a number of changes to notifications allowing you to better control your VR experience.
Having your headset run out of battery in the middle of a session is no fun at all. That’s why we’re making it easier for you to know when your battery is running low while you’re in an immersive experience with a new and improved low battery warning notification.
You’ll now see your battery level on the power off screen with a reminder to charge your headset so that it’s ready to go for your next session in VR.
We’re adding the ability to enable Local Dimming across all apps on Meta Quest Pro to reduce screen brightness. You can enable this feature from Experimental in Settings.
Hand Tracking 2.2 includes a number of enhancements, including:
These features and enhancements will gradually become available starting the week of June 21, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
We’re continuing to move VR forward by pushing the boundaries of what Quest Pro and Quest 2 are capable of. With v55, we’re enabling higher clock speeds for the CPU and GPU for all Quest Pro and Quest 2 headsets, giving you smoother gameplay and a more responsive UI. This update also adds more power for developers to take advantage of for both existing and upcoming apps.
These performance improvements include:
We’re adding the ability to use a passcode to unlock your device, which will work like the unlock pattern. As this feature gradually rolls out, you’ll be able to set up a numerical passcode between 4 and 12 characters to unlock your device, enter saved passwords, and more. You’ll be able to manage your passcode by going to Security in Settings.
We’re updating the Messenger experience in VR to help you connect and make new friends while in the metaverse. With v55, we’re bringing the Messenger app, including messaging and audio calling to VR, so you can hang out with those who matter most regardless of which device they use.
You’ll now see a green circle on the People tab in the universal menu to help you know when people you follow are online.
We’re gradually rolling out an experimental design with new content for the default landing page in VR, Explore, so you can effortlessly engage with your communities, compelling entertainment, and immersive experiences.
A few of the Explore changes we’re experimenting with include:
We made it easier to travel to the mirror in your Horizon Home to edit your avatar. With just one click on the mirror, you will be transported and ready to view real-time edits to your avatar in an optimal position.
We’ve improved eye tracking on Quest Pro to make it more accurate across a broader field of view and during expressions like winking. For the most accurate eye tracking, you can always recalibrate by going to Movement Tracking in Settings, then Eye tracking, then Calibrate eye tracking.
We’re gradually rolling out a new way to interact with notifications in VR using your hands. With hand tracking turned on, you’ll be able to tap on icons or buttons, or swipe to dismiss a notification.
We’re releasing two new virtual environments:
Quest Browser now has multi-touch gesture support, allowing you to use Touch controllers or your hands to zoom in, zoom out, or interact with other web elements.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of May 18, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
Enhance or personalize the Skybox View that surrounds your Home environment in VR by selecting one of the preinstalled options or uploading your own image. You can manage your Skybox View from the Personalization menu in Settings.
We’re making it easier to manage your follow requests to connect with other users. Follow requests will now be grouped together at the top of your notifications. Selecting this notification will take you to the People tab where you can view and respond to all your follow requests.
We are improving your headset's ability to remember more boundaries, so you can spend less time redrawing them.
We’ve updated the look and feel of your App Library. Filter and sort are now integrated into search for a more robust search experience.
The avatar mirror in your Horizon Home is now available in more environments, allowing you to easily view and personalize your avatar.
We have improved the tracking performance for Quest Touch Pro controllers, more reliably positioning controllers in VR based on their position in real life.
We moved Light theme from the Experimental menu to the System menu in Settings. Light theme allows you to select a lighter color scheme for menus and notifications in VR. To change your display theme, select Personalization from Settings, then select Display Theme.
We’ve combined the Boundary, Passthrough and Objects & Furniture settings into the Physical Space setting.
You can now turn on notifications in VR for more apps from the Notifications menu in Settings.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of April 27, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
We are adding the ability to block access to certain website categories in Meta Quest Browser (examples: adult content, alcohol/tobacco, weapons, etc.). Once you’ve turned on Parental Supervision, parents can enable these content filters from the Meta Quest mobile app.
If you have a Quest Pro, you can now connect to WiFi 6 GHz networks for lower latency and faster, more consistent download and upload speeds.
Advanced camera settings are moving from Experimental Features to the Camera tab under Settings. You can use these advanced settings to capture VR gameplay videos at different frame rates, aspect ratios, bit rates, and with image stabilization.
We are beginning to roll out stereo audio for video recording. All video captures will record stereo audio instead of monophonic audio.
When you shutdown your headset, you will now have the option to update apps before the headset powers off. This will help minimize the number of app updates that you have to complete the next time you want to jump into a VR app or game.
A readout will show up when you are using the system keyboard. This will allow you to quickly glance at what you’re typing in VR and make easy edits and should reduce eye and neck strain.
You will now be able to select the time zone on your headset and manually edit the displayed time. To do this, select the date at the top of the Quick Settings panel.
Multiple notifications from a specific app will now be grouped together, allowing you to more efficiently interact with them.
You can now log in to Twitch.tv from Meta Quest Browser. Access content, chat with friends, and watch and subscribe to your favorite Twitch streamers in VR.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of February 21, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro and Meta Quest 2 headsets.
As we look to the future, we are grateful to the Quest 1 community and remain committed to supporting its users. If you currently use Quest 1, your headset will still be supported with a few changes. It is important to note that Quest 1 is not shutting down, and users will continue to maintain access to their existing apps and games. Here’s an overview of what’s ahead:
We thank you and the entire Quest 1 community for helping us get to where we are today. If you have any questions about these changes or about your Quest 1 headset, we encourage you to contact Meta Store support.
When we launched Meta Quest Pro, one of our favorite new features was the ability to bring up a 2D app (like the Meta Quest Browser) without closing the game we were playing. With v50, we’re excited to bring this feature to Meta Quest 2 as well. Check your Instagram feed, look up the location of a Lost Ball in Walkabout Mini Golf, or get a bit of work done while you’re killing time in Demeo’s Heroes’ Hangout—all without leaving your current app or experience.
We are introducing a new way to navigate in VR. With Direct Touch, you can swipe through content like the apps in your library, and tap on objects like buttons and icons as you would on a smart phone. You can find Direct Touch in Settings > Experimental > Features.
We are adding a setting in the Quick Settings panel that allows you to switch between tablet and desktop modes for your VR menu viewing experience. Desktop mode is the default view, while tablet mode combines the universal menu and other menus you open into a single VR tablet, which is designed for using the new Direct Touch experimental feature.
We’re also adding text labels in Quick Settings to make it easier to navigate.
To open the Quick Setting panel, press on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu, then select the clock on the left side of the universal menu.
We are improving performance on the Touch Pro controllers, reducing the time for tracking to initialize. Your controllers will be quicker to respond when you first put on your headset, and whenever you switch from hand tracking back to controllers.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of January 19, 2023 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest headsets.
We’re adding two new Home environments to explore and we're also making it easier to move around in your Home. You can now explore more of your Home environment and you can rotate your view when you have the universal menu open.
Our new Home environments include:
We’re making it easier to set up and manage parental supervision tools for Meta Quest with the new Family Center. On Family Center, you can get answers to common questions, discover what parental supervision tools are available and make changes to existing settings.
Parents can also invite teens to set up parental supervision on their accounts on Family Center.
We’ve added a new Do Not Disturb mode in v49 that, once activated, silences notifications while you’re in 3-dimensional games and apps. You can find this setting in System Settings > Notifications > Do Not Disturb.
Keep in mind that certain critical notifications (examples: party invites, battery status) will still be displayed.
We are adding our accessibility settings to the Meta Quest mobile app, increasing the ease-of-use and ease-of-access for accessibility settings in your VR experience.
When buying games or making in-app purchases in VR, you can now use the Meta Quest mobile app to pass the 3DS (SCA) authentication step of the checkout.
We’re giving the universal menu a visual refresh. We’re also adding a fourth app to your app history, and an active app indicator that shows your current open apps.
These features and enhancements will become available starting the week of November 28, 2022 and will be pushed to Meta Quest Pro, Meta Quest 2 and Meta Quest headsets.
We’re adding a new experimental feature that will allow you to listen to your favorite tunes or podcast in the background. This will be available on Browser as well as Progressive Web Applications (PWAs).
Share the magic of mixed reality with friends and family. On Meta Quest Pro devices, you'll now be able to capture photos and videos while using mixed reality in Passthrough.
We’re making it easier to view, edit and share your photos and videos you capture in VR. Media will now automatically sync to the Meta Quest mobile app from your headset.
We’re improving performance across the Meta Quest mobile app and adding new features.
With this update, you will be able to make your app wishlist public and send a link to friends and family. You can modify your wishlist from the Store tab on your headset or the Meta Quest mobile app.
We’ve added the ability to view and edit your avatar in your Home. You’ll now see your avatar's arms and hands when in your Home, and if you haven’t created your avatar yet, you’ll see a default avatar. You can also view and edit your avatar by interacting with the new mirror we’ve added to Home. This will be rolling out gradually and will be initially available in 4 environments (Desert Terrace, Space Station, Winter Lodge, Cascadia).
We want to reduce the time it takes for you to get into the action when you put on your headset. You can now pin and unpin apps from your library to your Universal Menu for quicker access to your favorite games and experiences. Hover over apps in your library and select to see the option to pin to your Universal Menu.
We’ve made it easier to accept follower requests by adding a button to the notification you receive when someone requests to follow you.
You can now capture images and videos using a controller shortcut.
v47 will also unlock Meta Quest Touch Pro Controllers compatibility with Quest 2. These self-tracked controllers feature TruTouch haptics and fine motor controls like precision pinch motion, joystick, and stylus tip, for even more intuitive VR experiences.
The Sharing panel where you share captured content from is now called the Camera panel.
Additional v46 updates for Meta Quest Pro
All Meta Quest Pro units will ship with v46. In addition to the update below, this update includes features specific to the Meta Quest Pro headset. These include:

In this release we’re introducing early access to Meta Horizon Home; your personal VR social space. With your new home in VR, you'll now have a central place where you can seamlessly:
We know that sharing things you love is a great way to spend time with friends and family, but distance can make that challenging. Defy distance and share experiences by watching Oculus TV together with friends in Meta Horizon Home, where you can do things like:
We’re launching our initial suite of parental supervision tools. Teens initiate the request for their parent or guardian to supervise their account. Parents can accept these requests from the Oculus mobile app. Once parental supervision is set up, parents can access the following features:
We’ve improved performance and stability for using Link and Air Link with Windows 11 systems.
We’ve added a new panel in Settings that lets you control your default filter and sort order within your app library.
We've improved color accuracy for Oculus Home, System UI and other 2D panel apps for Meta Quest headsets. We've also provided a Color Space setting that allows you to choose how you want the colors to appear in your headset in these areas.
These features and enhancements will be rolling out during the week of May 16th, 2022.
We’ve added support for additional tracked keyboards. We’ve also added the ability to manage your saved keyboards in the Settings menu.
We’re adding support for 3DS credit cards for the Meta Quest app store in VR. This additional security protocol adds a layer of protection in online payment transactions when you make a purchase.
We’ve added a new capability to our existing unlock pattern allowing you to lock individual apps on your Meta Quest headset. This allows you to use your device unlock pattern to control access to existing apps in your library.
We’re transitioning all 1:1 communication (messaging and calling) on Messenger in VR to use end-to-end encryption. This provides an additional layer of security when using Messenger in VR.
We’ve added additional audio features to help everyone hear every sound in VR. These include:
You can find these settings in the Accessibility section of your in-VR settings panel.
With this release, we’re moving controller settings out of experimental status and into the settings panel to make it available for everyone.

We’re introducing a new experimental feature that provides a window into your VR experience by showing your real self interacting with the VR app you’re in using the Oculus mobile app.
We’re introducing a new way to backup your app data with Oculus Cloud Backup. When Cloud Backup is enabled, Oculus backs up your device’s app data for supported apps, like game progress or settings, to the cloud. This lets you easily pick up where you left off in a game if you re-install an app, reset your device, or set up a new device.
We're moving the option to have multiple accounts on your Quest headset from experimental to general availability. Now everyone has the option to support multiple accounts on a single headset.
We’re piloting a new feature that lets you interact with phone notifications without leaving VR. For enabled apps, you’ll be able to tap on a notification from a smartphone app to open a web version of the app in VR. Currently the app list for this pilot includes:
We’ve made it easier for you to communicate with your friends by integrating Messenger Calling in VR. Now, you can make audio calls while in VR to your friends on any Messenger-enabled platform—wherever they may be. No more taking off your headset to communicate and coordinate.
We’ve added the ability to adjust the ‘Up’ angle of the thumbstick, allowing you to adjust the forward direction of the thumbstick
We have added a microphone button within the browser address bar for users to easily access the dictation feature when using the browser.
We’re adding to the list of 2D apps you can use on Quest. New apps coming soon to the app store include:
We’re introducing the ability for developers to add new subscription terms for their apps in the Oculus store. Subscription terms can be monthly, quarterly or yearly. Additionally, apps will be able to include subscription tiers (bronze, silver, gold) as well as the ability to upgrade and downgrade between the different levels.
We still have openings to opt into the new Quest Public Test Channel. The test channel enables you to get early access to the next unreleased software version ahead of the public release.
