Learn about moderators in a world in Meta Horizon
In some worlds, you might encounter a community moderator. You’ll know you are talking to one of these moderators because they have “Moderator" in their name tag. These are people who volunteered to help moderate these spaces in real-time. They have the ability to intervene in situations, helping to ensure the space you enjoy spending time in remains a comfortable and positive experience.
These moderators are here to help, but they should not be considered a replacement for reporting policy violating behavior. They are there to help create a community where respect and positive interactions are the norm. Community moderators can:
- Mute or Unmute: If someone’s causing trouble, moderators can mute them for 15 minutes. The community moderator can also unmute people when things cool down.
- Warn: If someone’s causing trouble, they can send a private warning message to a person to inform them that they are not following world norms.
- Remove: In more serious cases, moderators can remove people from the world to keep the peace.
Eligible people 13+ in age can apply on the world details page to become a moderator. The creator of that world will be notified and can accept or reject your application.
People who frequent the world they are applying to and demonstrate positive and desired behavior may be eligible to apply to become a moderator or accept invites to become one from creators.
Even if a community moderator is available, you should always report any behavior that makes you uncomfortable or may violate the Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences (CCVE) so that Meta can review evidence and take appropriate action if we find a violation. How to report someone in a world.
Review of Code of Conduct violations
Reports for violating the Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences are reviewed by a combination of technology and trained safety specialists. These reports include the last few minutes of your world audio and other interactions so the specialists can investigate and determine what course of action to take.
