Purchase an app subscription
App subscriptions let you pay a set amount on a recurring basis to get refreshed, exclusive and bundled content automatically delivered to your device from your favorite app developers.
How it works
Developers can choose to enable app subscriptions on certain titles. You can purchase app subscriptions from the Meta Horizon Store on your mobile device or directly from your headset.
Subscription types
- Free app with a paid subscription: The base app is free and a subscription is mandatory to access all content.
- Freemium: The base app is free and a subscription is optional to access premium content.
- Paid App: The base app is paid and a subscription is optional to access premium content.
Some apps offer a free trial (7 days, 14 days, 30 days). After the trial ends, you will be auto-enrolled in the subscription. You can cancel a subscription any time in your payment settings.
Please note, currently, subscriptions do not work with multiple profiles. If you have multiple profiles on your headset, only the profile where the subscription was purchased can access the subscription content.
Purchase an app subscription for yourself
To purchase a subscription from your headset:
- Put on your headset.
- From the Navigator, select Store.
- Find the app you'd like to purchase a subscription for.
- Select the price button, or if it's free, select Get.
- Once the app installs, launch the app by selecting Start.
- Follow the in-app instructions to complete your subscription purchase.
To purchase a subscription from the Meta Horizon mobile app:
- Open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
- Find the app you'd like to purchase a subscription for.
- Select the blue price button, or if it's free, select Get.
- Select Install on [device].
- Once the app installs, launch the app by selecting Start.
- Follow the in-app instructions to complete your subscription purchase.
Payment
When you purchase your app subscription, it will charge the default payment method on your account. If you need to update or use a different payment method:
From the Meta Horizon mobile app:
- On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
- Tap
Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
- Scroll down and tap Wallet below Payment and subscriptions.
- Tap Add a payment method and follow the on-screen instructions.
Purchase subscriptions for someone else
Currently, app subscriptions can only be used by the person making the purchase. App subscriptions can't be sent as gifts at this time.
Please note, you can't use any form of store credit or promotions towards your subscription purchase at this time.
