Hand and Body Tracking allows you to use your hands or controllers to interact with your surroundings. You can play games, watch movies and explore without using controllers. It also helps make your avatar’s movements look more realistic.

To turn Hand and Body Tracking on or off:

  1. Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Select the clock on the left side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
  3. Select Settings.
  4. Select Movement tracking.
  5. Select the toggle next to Hand and Body Tracking to turn this feature on or off.

If you choose to turn off Hand and Body Tracking, you can use controllers to interact with your surroundings on Meta Quest devices, and your avatar’s movements will be based on the position and orientation of your headset and controllers. See our Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy for more information.

Hand and Body Tracking works by using the cameras on Meta Quest headsets. Our software analyzes images of your hands and body from the cameras in real time to estimate the position and orientation of your hands and body.
