Use chat on Meta Quest

Chat lets you send text messages to other users through the Meta Horizon OS on Meta Quest. When someone sends you a message, you'll see it on Meta Quest and in the Meta Horizon mobile app.

You can receive messages from someone who you’re not following but their message will appear as a message request. You can choose to approve or block the request.

Alternatively, you can voice chat by either starting a call or joining a group.

To chat on Meta Quest:

  1. Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Select Chats.
  3. Select the person or group you would like to chat with.

To delete chat history:

  1. Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Select Chats.
  3. Find and select the person to open the chat you have with them.
  4. With their chat open, select Options next to their name.
  5. Select Delete chat history, then select Delete to confirm you want to delete this chat history.

Note: If you’re 10-12 years old (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that's managed by your parent or guardian, your parent must add someone as an approved contact before you can chat with them. You can only participate in one-on-one chats, and you can’t send images or videos.
