View and manage the permissions for Meta Quest
Privacy indicator lets you know when certain privacy related features are currently in use—and which of the apps in your library are currently using them. That includes your microphone, location, spatial data, eye tracking (for Quest Pro only), and Natural Facial Expressions (for Quest Pro only).
View permissions in use
The real-time indicator in the universal menu shows a purple animation every time an installed app accesses a permission. Permissions that are actively in use or have been recently used in the last 30 seconds will appear in your universal menu and Quick Settings menu.
To view the permissions in use by an app:
- Press
Meta button /
Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
- Select the clock on the left side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
- Select
View permissions to view the permissions that are being used.
- Select
Settings to manage that app’s permissions.
- Select Permissions history to view all of your app permissions.
View permissions history
Permissions history shows which installed apps accessed certain types of information and inputs from your device in the past 7 days. You can view and manage the permissions of your apps in the privacy and safety settings of your Meta Quest.
The permission types you see in Permissions History depends on which headset you are currently using:
- Storage, Microphone, Location: All headsets starting with Meta Quest 2
- Spatial data: Quest 3, Meta Quest Pro
- Eye tracking, Natural Facial Expressions: Meta Quest Pro
To view history information and manage permissions:
- Press
Meta button /
Oculus button on your right Touch controller to open the universal menu.
- Select the clock on the left side of the universal menu to open Quick settings.
- Select
Settings, then select
Privacy and safety.
- Select Permissions history.
- Select the app you want to view.
- Select the system permission to view a timeline of access in the past 7 days.
Note: If you delete an app from your library, you will no longer be able to view the permissions history timeline.
