Meta Quest is charging slowly
When plugged into a wall outlet using the included power adapter, the headset should fully charge in about 2 ½ hours. When plugged into a wall outlet, using a power adapter rated less than 18W will slow down charging. When plugged into a laptop/PC, using a USB port that is not PD-compatible and capable of 18W+ will slow down charging. Using a USB-C cable other than the included USB-C PD charging cable may lead to poor charging performance, injury or damage.
Meta Quest battery is draining even when plugged in
When charging while your headset is in use, your headset may adjust the charging rate to optimize battery performance based on factors such as temperature. Your headset’s battery also may not fully charge if it is plugged in while in use and exceeds the optimal charging temperature. Once the device is no longer in use and its temperature has returned to normal, your device should resume charging to 100% while plugged in to charge.
When plugged into a wall outlet, using a power adapter rated less than 18W will slow charging. When plugged into a laptop/PC, using a USB port that is not Power Delivery-compatible and capable of the recommended wattage will slow down charging.
Meta Quest 3 battery life is shorter than expected
Meta Quest 3 is capable of providing 2.2 hours of use on average across a variety of activities. Some activities, such as MR and more demanding apps, may reduce battery life below this level.
Batteries naturally degrade over time. Your device may use software and hardware systems to manage charging patterns, including limiting the charging to less than the maximum capacity. These proactive measures are intended to slow further degradation and enable optimal performance over time.
You can extend your battery life by switching to Battery Saver mode from the power settings menu, although this may impact graphical fidelity.
To extend the charge of your Meta Quest battery:
- Press
Meta button or
Oculus button on your right controller to open the Navigator.
- Select
Quick controls.
- Select
Battery saver.
The Elite Strap with Battery is not charging to 100% when not plugged into Meta Quest 3 or Meta Quest 3S
The Elite Strap with Battery has to verify the headset is not on your head in order to fully charge to 100%, and it can only do this if it's plugged into your headset. To fully charge Elite Strap with Battery, make sure it is plugged into your headset and connected to a power adapter that is 18W or higher.
