Meta Horizon Workrooms release notes

These features and enhancements became available on 31 July 2023. Update the Workrooms app on your Quest headset to get access to v1.15.

Enhanced spatial audio experience

With Universal Head Related Transfer Function (HRFT) integration, expect improved sound localization and frequency accuracy. Pinpoint where sounds are coming from within your virtual environment more precisely, and experience natural and unfiltered sound reproduction, especially for elevation changes.

Smoother remote desktop connections

Workrooms will now automatically attempt to connect again if your original connection attempt is unsuccessful. Plus, if you get disconnected unexpectedly, the app will automatically reconnect you.

Reliability and quality improvements

We're continuing to work on quality and stability to enhance your experience using Workrooms, including improvements to avatar loading and Meta Quest Remote Desktop discovery infrastructure.

These features and enhancements become available June 23, 2023. Update the Workrooms app on your Quest headset to get access to v1.14.

Host Zoom meetings in Workrooms

We’ve integrated Zoom with Workrooms, allowing you to join your existing Zoom meetings from within the Workrooms app. You can also bring everyone to a VR meeting, even if they don’t have a Quest headset. When participants join a Workrooms Zoom meeting on video call, their camera feed will show up on the virtual monitor in the VR meeting room.

Raise your hand in a meeting in VR

Previously you could only raise your hand in a meeting if you were on a video call. We’ve now added the ability to raise (and lower) your hand from a meeting in VR.

New Move button

We combined the option to move your seat and to go to the whiteboard at the front of the room into a single button. When you select Move, all possible locations to move to are highlighted, including empty seats and the room white board.

Desk setup in the Workrooms app

Setting up your desk now takes place after you launch the Workrooms app for a more streamlined experience.

We're continuing to work on quality and stability to enhance your experience using Workrooms, including improvements to avatar loading and Meta Quest Remote Desktop discovery infrastructure.

Whiteboard laser pointer

You can now use a laser pointer while standing at the room whiteboard by pressing the trigger on your Touch or Touch Pro controller.

Virtual screens on Windows

We’ve added support for creating virtual screens in Workrooms for Windows. Learn more about using multiple monitors in Workrooms to increase your productivity.

Persistent computer settings

If you adjust your screen brightness or computer audio while using Meta Quest Remote Desktop, these settings will now persist between sessions.

Remote Desktop connection persistence

We’ve improved the Remote Desktop experience by keeping you connected while you transition between your Personal Office and a workroom, including your current virtual monitor arrangements and computer settings.

Updated Personal Office tutorial for first time users

We’ve updated the tutorial experience when you enter Personal Office for the first time to include our newest designs and features.

Report someone in Workrooms in VR

You can now report someone in Workrooms in VR for violating our Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences. Learn more about reporting on Meta Quest.

Load a meeting in the background

Maximize your time by continuing to work in your Workrooms personal office while your meeting loads.

Microphone use notification

You’ll receive a notification to alert you when another app is using your microphone. The notification will stay visible as long as the other app is using the mic.

Fist bumps

We’re introducing the ability to fist bump people in your workroom using either controllers or hand tracking. When two users fist bump they will feel haptic feedback and see an on-screen animation.

Desk whiteboard in your personal office

You can now use the desk whiteboard in your personal office. Your personal office whiteboard will be persistent from session to session, so you can return to your personal office and the content on the whiteboard will still be there. The personal office whiteboard is not shareable or exportable at this time.

Accept Workroom invites in VR

You can now accept or decline invitations to join a workroom from your Quest headset. New invites will show at the top of the Rooms tab from the desk menu in your personal office.
