Meta Quest supports keyboards in two different ways:
In both scenarios, your keyboard can be tracked by your headset. This lets you see your keyboard and hands in Passthrough, even when you are in an immersive environment. Tracking works with most common types of keyboard, but ergonomic or split keyboards are not supported.
Keyboards that are connected directly to the headset via Bluetooth can be used in the VR home environment and applications that support Bluetooth keyboards. When you use the keyboard in an immersive environment, you’ll see your keyboard and hands in a Passthrough window that is tracked to the keyboard’s location.
To connect a bluetooth keyboard to your Meta Quest:
Once you have connected a keyboard, you'll see a prompt asking if you want to see your keyboard in VR whenever you turn your headset on and the keyboard is in range.
Not all keyboards need to be connected directly to your Meta Quest headset. Instead they might be connected to a computer or device which is streaming content to your Meta Quest headset. For example, using the Meta Quest Remote Desktop app.
Keyboards being used in this way are still tracked and you will still be able to see your keyboard through a Passthrough window when in an immersive environment. As above, to turn on keyboard tracking:
Your keyboard will now be tracked in your VR home environment, as well as in applications that support keyboard tracking.
