How to redeem an app, game or subscription promotion with the purchase of a new Meta Quest headset
If you purchase a Meta Quest headset that’s part of a limited time app, game or subscription promotion, you can redeem the content after you activate your headset. Once you activate your headset, you may receive a notification in your email, on your headset, or in the Meta Horizon mobile app with instructions on how to redeem your content. If you do not receive a notification, you can still redeem your content following the instructions below.
In some cases, an app, game or subscription included in a promotion may not be available yet. You can still redeem the content after you activate your headset, but you may not be able to play the content until it’s released.
You must redeem your app, game or subscription before the offer expires. Please check the specific promotion for expiration details.
How to redeem your promotion
You can redeem promotion content using the Meta Horizon app or your Meta Quest headset.
To redeem your new headset purchase promotion:
- Download and open the Meta Horizon app on your phone, then follow the instructions to activate your headset.
- When you get to Payments and extras, find the content included with your purchase.
- Tap Redeem or
Options next to the content.
- Follow the on-screen instructions, then tap Continue.
Keep in mind, you need to activate your headset before you can redeem your promotion.

Redeem a promotion for a child's Meta account
If you’re 10-12 (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that’s managed by your parent or guardian, you’ll need your parent to redeem your promotion. During headset activation, you’ll be prompted to have your parent use the Meta Horizon app to redeem the promotion.
Redeem your 3-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate membership
Xbox Game Pass Ultimate is a Microsoft subscription needed to use Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta) on Meta Quest headsets. A three month subscription, as well as an Xbox Wireless Controller, is included with Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition. Before you get started, you’ll need a Microsoft account.
To redeem the included Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription in your headset:
- Open the Xbox app. This is already installed on Meta Quest 3S Xbox Edition headsets.
- On the welcome screen, select Start Playing.
- You are prompted to either Redeem in headset or Redeem over email using your smartphone or computer.
- If you redeem in the headset, you will see your promo code on the screen before being sent to microsoft.com to sign-in. Your promotional code should be auto-filled on the Microsoft site. If needed, you can copy the code from the previous screen using the save to clipboard button. Once you are finished, select Done at the top-right of the browser window to continue to controller setup and the games library.
If you redeem over email, a link will be sent to the email address associated with your Meta account. Click the link in the email to sign in to microsoft.com and enter your promotional code. When you return to your headset, select I’ve already redeemed this to continue to controller setup and the games library.
Share apps and games
If you’re a device owner and want to share eligible promotional content with additional profiles on the headset, you can do so by turning on App Sharing.
Refunds
To get a refund for a Meta Quest promotion, please return your headset within 30 days of purchase.
If your promotion includes a subscription, your payment plan will be canceled. You’ll lose access to any free content included with the promotion.
