Get parents started with supervision for Meta Horizon
We know that while all parents and guardians want to keep their teens and children safe, not everyone has the expertise to easily do this in the virtual world.
Our goal with these supervision tools is to make mixed-reality app and experience safety readily accessible, transparent and easy to understand.
If you manage a child’s Meta account, supervision is automatically set up.
Understand basic requirements for supervision
- Supervision tools can be accessed through the Meta Horizon mobile app or the Family Center website. You can download the Meta Horizon mobile app for free on your phone using the links below:
-
A Meta account. This is what you’ll use to log into the Meta Horizon mobile app or Family Center in order to use supervision. If you don’t currently have a Meta account, you can create one from the Meta Horizon mobile app or on the web at auth.meta.com.
- An invite from you or your teen on Family Center, an invite from your teen on the Meta Horizon mobile app, or a Meta account that you created for your child.
- Your agreement: Both you and your teen need to agree to set up supervision. You or your teen can turn off supervision at any time.
Review account requirements for supervision
In addition to the requirements outlined above, there are some additional requirements for both your Meta account and the Meta accounts you manage:
- Both the child or teen and the parent must have a Meta account. We require people to be at least 10 years old to sign up for a Meta account.
- If a child is between 10 and 12 years old (age may vary by region), then their parent or guardian must create and manage the account for them.
- A child or teen’s account can only have one parent or guardian supporting their account.
- Parents can support up to 5 accounts.
- Parents must be at least 18 years old.
- The child or teen Meta account and the parent Meta account must not be disabled, deactivated or deleted.
Note: Once supervision is set up, anyone else you supervise will be able to see your child or teen in Family Center, and your child or teen will be able to see them.
