Moving and adjusting windows on Meta Quest

When you launch a 2D app, it opens in a window attached to the Navigator. You can have up to three windows attached to the Navigator. You can have multiple instances of the same 2D app open, such as multiple Browser windows.

If three windows are already attached to the Navigator when you launch another app, one of the previously opened windows will minimize to the Navigator as the new app opens in a window attached to the Navigator.

To have more than three windows open at the same time, you can detach windows from the Navigator and move them anywhere in your virtual environment. You can have up to three windows around you and three windows attached to the Navigator.

There are several ways you can rearrange windows in your virtual environment to fit your needs:

  • Moving windows
  • Minimizing or closing windows
  • Resizing windows
  • Entering theater view

Moving windows

To move a window:

  1. Using controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to the outside perimeter of the window. A white line will appear.
  2. Select the white line to grab the window, and then drag it to a new location attached to the Navigator, or anywhere in your virtual environment.

Minimizing or closing windows

Minimized apps will maintain their state and can be reopened by selecting their icon from the Navigator. Apps which are open but minimized are identified in the Navigator by a white dot underneath the app icon.

To minimize or close a window:

  1. Using either controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to the menu bar below the window which contains three icons and the name of the app.
  2. Select to minimize the app.
  3. Select to close the app.

Resizing windows

Some 2D apps can be resized by grabbing a corner. To resize a window:

  1. Using either controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to one corner of the window you want to resize. A curved white line will appear.
  2. Select the white line to grab the window, and then drag to resize the window.

Entering Focus Mode

Focus mode lets you focus on a specific 2D window, making it larger and dimming your surroundings. In Focus mode, you have several options available in a menu below the window:

  • Select to adjust the dimness of your surroundings.
  • Select to toggle between a curved and flat screen.
  • To open a window in Focus mode:

    1. Using controllers or hand tracking, move the cursor to the lower-middle perimeter of the window. A menu containing three icons and the name of the app will open.
    2. Select to open that app in the theater view.
    3. To leave theater view, select .

A Focus mode window can be resized and moved using the same methods described above.
