Create and manage a Meta account on Meta Horizon for your child
Parents and guardians can create and manage a Meta account on Meta Horizon for a child between the ages of 10-12 (age may vary by region).
Create a Meta account for your child
To create a Meta account for your child:
- Go to Family Center and log in.
- Click Add or Add or invite accounts.
- Click Create an account for a child from the options available, then click Continue.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to set up your child's account.
Manage a Meta account for your child
When you manage a Meta account for your child, you’ll both use your email and password to access your child’s account. Log in using your email and password, then choose to continue with your child’s account.
Managing your child’s account lets you:
- Manage your child's account and privacy settings
- See how much time your child spends in Meta Quest and Meta Horizon, and set time limits
- Manage your child’s access to apps, including allowing or blocking access to apps and features
- Report someone who isn’t following the Code of Conduct for Virtual Experiences
- Make purchases for your child
- Watch their Meta Quest experience in real-time
Social features for children’s Meta accounts are limited.
People can manage their own Meta account from the age of 13 (age may vary by region). Teens can find information on how they can review privacy settings and learn more about safeguards in the Teen Privacy Center.
If you’re unable to manage your child’s Meta account, your child can invite another parent or guardian to manage their account instead.
To manage a Meta account for your child:
- Go to Family Center and log in.
- Select your child's account.
- Below their name you can see and select settings, including:
- Their connections to manage who they're following
- Their time spent to manage time spent on Meta Quest and Meta Horizon
- Their experiences to manage their viewed and blocked apps
- Their settings to manage the following:
- Safety settings to manage your child’s access to apps and social features
- Account privacy to control who can see your child’s profile and app activity
- Manage Meta account to edit your child’s account information or delete their account
Note: Anyone else you supervise will be able to see your child in Family Center, and your child will be able to see them.
Set up a passcode
To help ensure your child uses the right Meta account for their age, we recommend that you do the following:
- Set up a passcode for your profile
- Require a passcode for your profile by selecting Unlock headset
