Export a copy of your Meta account and Meta Quest device information

You can export a copy of information associated with your Meta account, Meta Horizon activities and Meta Quest devices. You can export the information to an external service or to your device in a machine readable HTML or JSON format.

Information you can export includes content and information you’ve shared, your activity and information we collect, and information collected by the hardware in your headset and accessories. There are different types of information you can export to your device versus a service.

If you're 10-12 years old (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that’s managed by your parent or guardian, you can ask your parent to help you export your information. Your parent needs to log into your account before following the instructions below.

Export your information

Exporting your information is a password-protected process. After you initiate the process, we'll send an email letting you know when it’s done. If you choose to export your information to an external device, we’ll also send you a notification.

When your export is ready, you’ll have 4 days to download your information in the Available downloads section in the Export your information tool in Accounts Center. You can also delete your export or view past file requests in the Past activity section.

Your exported file may contain sensitive information. We recommend that you keep it secure and take precautions when storing, sending or uploading it to any other services.

To export your information to your device:

  1. Go to Accounts Center. You may need to log in.
  2. Click Your information and permissions in the menu on the left.
  3. Click Export your information, then click Create export.
  4. Select the profile you’d like to export information from, then click Next.
  5. Select Export to device. From here, you can choose specific information to export, select a date range, format, the notification email and media quality.
  6. Once you have customized your export, click Start export.

To export your information to an external service:

  1. Go to Accounts Center. You may need to log in.
  2. Click Your information and permissions in the menu on the left.
  3. Click Export your information, then click Create export.
  4. Select the profile you’d like to export information from, then click Next.
  5. Select Export to external service.
  6. Choose an external service to export your information to and click Next. You'll need to connect to the external service you’ve selected.
  7. Choose how often you want to export, then click Next.
  8. Enter the password for the profile you selected, then click Next. From here, you can customize your export, choose your notification email and media quality.
  9. Once you have customized your export, click Start export.

We will notify you when your export is complete.

Note: If your Meta account was disabled or restricted, you may be able to request a download of your account information by following the instructions on the notification screen.
