Meta Quest PTC
Meta Quest Public Test Channel (PTC) is an early access program for Meta Quest version software. By signing up, you can get early access to the unreleased software version ahead of the public release.
Sign up for Meta Quest PTC
You can sign up for Meta Quest PTC in the Meta Horizon mobile app. When you sign up, your headset will become eligible for the latest unreleased Meta Quest software version.
To sign up for eligibility for Meta Quest PTC from the Meta Horizon mobile app:
- Open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
- Tap your avatar picture at the bottom, then tap in the top right.
- Tap Devices.
- Select the headset you want to find to join Meta Quest PTC with.
- Tap Headset settings, then tap Advanced Settings.
- Tap the toggle next to Public Test Channel to try to join Meta Quest PTC.
- If the toggle doesn’t work, Meta Quest PTC is currently full and not available.
Keep in mind, Meta Quest PTC is offered on a first-come, first-served basis. We currently do not have a waitlist, so please check back at a later time if you’re unable to sign up.

Remove yourself from Meta Quest PTC
You can remove yourself from Meta Quest PTC from the Meta Horizon mobile app.
To remove yourself from Meta Quest PTC using the Meta Horizon mobile app:
- Open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone.
- Tap your avatar picture at the bottom, then tap in the top right.
- Tap Devices.
- Select the headset you want to find to join Meta Quest PTC with.
- Tap Headset settings, then tap Advanced Settings.
- Tap the toggle next to Public Test Channel to turn off Meta Quest PTC.
Note: Disabling Public Test Channel will automatically downgrade your device to the current public release. You may not be able to re-enroll if the program is at capacity. If the PTC release is equivalent to the Public Release, downgrade and factory reset will not occur, and you will disable future PTC upgrades.
Your device will be factory reset which will result in loss of gameplay or data not backed up. If you would like to proceed, ensure that your data and media are backed up.
Roll back your headset to a previous software version
As of December 2022, disabling PTC will initiate Rollback. Please follow the opt out steps above.
