Learn about Meta accounts for a child in Meta Horizon Worlds
When a parent or guardian creates a Meta account for a child age 10-12 (age may vary by region), they can grant them permission to access apps on the Meta Horizon store like Meta Horizon Worlds. Meta accounts for a child come with built-in supervision features that include:
- When a parent grants permission for their child to access Meta Horizon Worlds, their child will gain access to a small group of age-appropriate starter worlds. Parents can also choose if they want their child to have access to all worlds rated ages 10+, ages 10+ and ages 13+, or require their child to request access to each world on an individual basis.
- Voice chat only works for an approved contact for children age 10-12 (age may vary by region), all other voices will be filtered to sound like quiet, friendly sounds.
- Personal boundary is set to on for everyone, preventing children ages 10-12 from getting too close to everyone else. This is a requirement and cannot be changed by parents.
- Active status settings are managed by the parent or guardian and can be turned on or off at any time.
- Worlds rated ages 18+ are not visible or accessible.
Learn more about how these settings change when your child turns 13.
Receiving notifications
The parent or guardian will receive email or Meta Horizon mobile app push notifications for the following reasons:
- When the child account they manage requests access to a world outside of their approved world rating age range. Children are unable to request access to worlds rated 18+.
- When the child collaborates on the building of a world with an approved contact and when there are requests to collaborate to and from non-approved contacts.
- If the child reports another person or gets reported. Learn more about reporting.
- When the child turns 13 and they age out of parent-managed accounts.
- When the child requests that you purchase Meta Credits for them.
Parents can configure their push notifications in the Meta Horizon mobile app.
