Learn about Move on Meta Quest
Move is an app that helps you keep track of the calories you burn and how long you’ve been physically active across any game or app on Meta Quest.
How it works
Easily track your daily and weekly goals based on your calories and minutes combined. Your Move Calendar view will show your progress against your daily and weekly goals. You can set calorie-burn and Move minute goal targets for light, moderate, high or custom goals. You can enable the Overlay, which will show your live Move stats without having to leave your game or app.
Connect to the Meta Horizon mobile app
Easily track your fitness progress in the Meta Horizon mobile app by enabling syncing of your Move stats, like calories burned, Move minutes and goals.
To opt-in from your headset:
- Open your app library and select the Move app.
- Select Settings.
- Turn on the Connect Move to Meta Horizon Mobile App setting.
Calorie burn estimates
Calories burned are estimated through an algorithm that considers your basal metabolic rate (BMR) and your headset, controller and hand movements. BMR depends on your age, weight, height and sex. You can choose to provide your age, weight, height and sex or rely on averages instead.
We use the date of birth from your Facebook profile to calculate your age, unless you choose to skip using your age as part of the Move calorie estimate.
Please note that the calorie counts provided in Move are estimates only. Calorie counts in Move should be used for informational purposes only and should not be relied upon for medical or other purposes.

Fitness Friend lets you share your Move stats with people you choose.
When you add someone as a Fitness Friend, you’ll be able to see each other’s Move stats, including calories burned, Move minutes and goals, as well as recent apps you’ve worked out in.

Your information
Providing personal information when you use Meta Quest Move is optional. According to standard measurements in the health/fitness industry, age, weight, height and sex are variables that affect the rate at which you burn calories. So if you provide this information, your calorie estimate will be better.
If you are uncomfortable with sharing any of this information or do not identify with a sex, you can choose to skip providing any of these variables. In this case, an average will be used instead. Certain information you provide in Meta Quest Move, such as height, weight and sex, is stored on your device and will only be used to predict calories burned. Meta Quest Move does not currently support cloud backups.
Data storage
Your Meta Quest Move stats, including your total calories burned over time, are stored locally on your headset and are not shared with Facebook. If you clear your Move stats or factory reset your headset, this information will be deleted permanently. If you resume using Move after doing so, you will no longer have access to your previous Move stats.
If you set and meet any Meta Quest Move goals, Meta collects and aggregates this information to improve Meta Quest Move and measure whether it's helping people achieve their fitness goals. For example, If you set a calories target of "moderate" and achieve it, Meta would collect and aggregate that a user achieved a calorie target of "moderate".
