At Meta, community safety is a core value that's built into the products that we create. Our goal is to make information on Meta Quest safety readily accessible, transparent and easy for parents and guardians to understand.
Once you have determined your child is ready for Meta Quest, review the information below on how you can set up and supervise your child’s safe use of a Meta Quest headset.
Note: If you create or manage a child's Meta account, parental supervision is automatically set up. You can also convert an existing Meta account into a child’s account if they are between the ages of 10-12.
Meta Quest devices have a built-in safety feature that lets users set up a virtual boundary.
This boundary will appear in your child’s headset when they get too close to the edge of their set playing area. You can help your child set up a secure virtual boundary and create an appropriate buffer space by designating a safe, obstacle-free area for Meta Quest play. It’s important to monitor your child’s use of Meta Quest within a virtual boundary to ensure they are playing safely.
If you're setting up a virtual boundary for the first time, follow the instructions that you see in your headset. You can also watch our instructional videos for an overview of how to set up a virtual boundary.
Note: If your child uses their Meta Quest device in a different area or location, you will have to re-establish a physical boundary. Refer to the same steps for setting up your boundary, or learn more about troubleshooting your boundary.
Casting with Meta Quest allows you to watch what your child is seeing in headset. You can cast their Meta Quest device to the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone or to your computer.
