Design clothing for your Avatar on Meta Horizon
Some people will see the ability to create clothing using generative AI within the Avatars Store. This tool can help you find new, creative ways to express yourself with different prints, patterns and colors on avatar clothing that you can use across our apps and experiences.
Create custom patterns and designs
From the Tops section of the Avatars Store:
- Tap Create and select the top you want to style.
- You can either tap the dice icon to get a random prompt, or describe the pattern or colors you want and then tap Generate. This will create four options of an all-over design for the top.
- To see the front and back of the top, tap and hold your finger on the top to rotate it.
- To adjust the design, tap the top once and use your fingers to move, rotate, and scale the pattern. When you’re done making changes, tap the top again.
- When you’re done creating, tap Save to add the top to your closet.
Additional information
How can I wear and use my custom items?
When you’ve selected your chosen design and added any adjustments you want, tap Save to add the item to your closet. It may take a while for your item to appear, but you can leave the closet without losing your item once it starts saving.
Why don't I see the Create option under Tops?
We are gradually introducing this feature. It may not be available to you right now. If you previously used this feature, it could be because you’ve already created your 1 free item for the week. You’ll see the Create option anytime you’re able to create and save a custom item.
Why do I get an error message when trying to generate a pattern?
A message that says “Sorry, couldn’t generate that. Try something else.” appears if you tried to generate a pattern using text that is against one of our policies. This may include harmful or hurtful words, or content related to a brand or trademark. Generated content must follow Meta policies across our apps and experiences.
Why was I blocked from generating patterns?
If you try generating too many prompts that go against our Community Standards and Terms of Use, we will restrict your use of this feature for a period of time.
Why did an item I created get removed from my closet?
The items you create are subject to our Responsible Use Guidelines, as well as the respective Community Standards and Terms of Use of the apps and experiences they appear on (i.e. Facebook and Instagram, Meta Horizon, etc.). Items may be removed from your closet if they go against Meta policies.
How does Meta ensure that harmful, hurtful content can’t be generated?
We’re building safeguards into our generative AI features and models before we launch them so people can have safer and more enjoyable experiences. As with all AI systems, the models could return inaccurate or inappropriate outputs. We’ll continue to improve these features as they evolve and more people share their feedback.
To share feedback on an output:
- Tap in the top right of the screen.
- Tap Bad result.
- Choose a reason for why you’re sending the feedback.
