How to use live AI on Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses

Live AI is available in English for Early Access program members in the US and Canada.

When you start a live AI session on your Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, Meta AI can see what you see throughout the session to provide ongoing information and ideas. Get real-time, hands-free help and inspiration with everyday activities like meal prep, gardening, or exploring a new neighborhood.

During a live AI session, you don't need to say “Hey Meta” and you can interrupt anytime to ask follow-up questions or change topics.

Meta AI is only in select countries and languages. Full AI functionalities subject to regulatory uncertainty.

How to start a live AI session

Once you’ve enrolled in the Early Access program and enabled Meta AI, you can enable live AI from Settings in the Meta View app.

  1. Open the Meta View app on your phone.
  2. Tap in the bottom right.
  3. Swipe down and tap Early Access.
  4. Tap the toggle next to Live AI.

How to use live AI

Once you’ve enabled live AI from Settings, you can start a session using your voice. You can view your current live AI session, as well as past sessions, by going to Meta AI in the Meta View app.

  • To start a session, say “Hey Meta, start live AI.”
    • After you start a session you won’t need to say “Hey Meta” for the rest of the session.
    • You can interrupt Meta AI at any time by saying “Stop” or by asking another question.
  • To pause a session, tap the touchpad. Tap again to resume.
    • Pausing a session turns off the microphone, camera and capture LED on your glasses.
    • Once you resume a session, you can pick up where you left off. Meta AI can still reference the things you previously talked about.
  • To stop a session , say “Hey Meta, stop live AI,” or tap and hold the touchpad.

Once a session has stopped, future live AI sessions are not able to reference context from previous sessions.

What you can do with live AI

Here’s just a few examples of what you can do with live AI.

Get help while you’re cooking:

  • “How much salt did you say I needed for that stew recipe?”
  • “Do you see a substitute for butter and how much would I need?”

Learn more about your plants:

  • “How often do these plants need to be watered?”
  • “Where’s a good place to put this plant?”

Ask about the world around you:

  • “What’s the story behind this landmark?”
  • “Is this landmark built at the same time as the last one?”

How does live AI work?

Your glasses camera and microphone are continuously active during the session so that Meta AI's responses are faster and related to what you're seeing. You can disable live AI anytime from Early Access in Settings. You can review and delete transcripts from your live AI sessions from Meta AI in the Meta View app. You can delete your live AI videos in View Your Information. While using live AI, the capture LED will stay on for the duration of the session and will shut off if the session is paused or once the session ends.
