WARNING
Always read and follow all warnings and instructions provided with your Meta Quest and any apps, content and accessories that you use. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or property damage.
Your Meta Quest includes the Meta Quest headset, operating system and authorised apps, cables, power adapter and accessories.
Getting the right fit
Getting the right fit
WARNING
Install and use wrist straps or other authorised restraints with the accessory to secure them to your wrist during use so they do not become loose projectiles (unless using an app where a stylus is appropriate and fast movement is unlikely). If controller restraints are not attached or used inappropriately, the controllers may become airborne, increasing the risk of injury to others or property damage.
Children's use
WARNING
Not a toy. Injuries and negative effects, including muscle strain, may result from children's use. Adults should make sure that children who use the accessory follow warnings and instructions.
Discomfort and skin irritation
WARNING
Stop use if pressure, chafing, itching, irritation, lasting changes in skin appearance, swelling or other skin discomfort arises. Do not resume until you have fully recovered from discomfort or other symptoms.
- Extended use without adequate breaks may increase risk of discomfort, injury and adverse effects. Stop use if you feel discomfort and don't use again until discomfort is gone.
Interference with medical devices and restrictions in certain places
- Magnetic components. Your accessory contains magnets and components that emit magnetic/electromagnetic fields, which could affect the operation of nearby electronics and medical devices, including cardiac pacemakers, hearing aids and defibrillators. If you have a pacemaker, hearing aid or other implanted medical device:WARNING
- Maintain a safe distance between the medical device and your accessory.
- Consult a doctor or the manufacturer of your medical device before using your accessory.
- Stop using your accessory if you observe interference with your medical device.
- Follow restrictions and instructions provided in certain places to limit or avoid use of radio-electronic devices (for example, in hospitals, on aeroplanes or at fuel stations).
- Residents of France: Keep radio-electronic equipment away from the stomachs of pregnant women and the abdomens of adolescents. Children and teenagers should use radio-electronic equipment sparingly. Use radio-electronic equipment in good reception conditions to reduce the amount of radiation received.

Care and handling
Care and handling
WARNING
Don't use your accessory if any part of it is broken or damaged. Your accessory is sensitive electronic equipment and should be handled with care. Contact Meta Quest Support for assistance at meta.com/help/quest.
Rough handling
- Don't drop, disassemble, crush, bend, deform, puncture, shred or put a high degree of pressure on your accessory as this can lead to injury/damage.
- Don't drop, strike or shake your accessory excessively. Rough handling can result in cracking and partial or complete loss of functionality.
- Don't attempt to open, disassemble or tamper with your accessory.
- To avoid damage, keep your accessory away from pets.
Temperature
WARNING
Check the temperature of your accessory periodically to prevent burns or discomfort.
Your accessory complies with applicable limits for industry surface temperature standards. The accessory may feel warm at times. This is normal while in use or while charging. See Batteries, charging and electric shock.
- Prolonged skin contact with a hot surface on your accessory or power adapter may produce skin discomfort, redness or low-temperature burns. If your accessory or power adapter feel hot to the touch or are uncomfortably warm, stop using or charging and allow to cool down.
- If you have any special medical or physical conditions that impair the ability to detect heat against your skin, take special care when using or charging your accessory. Follow any thermal warning or advisory that may appear on your headset's screen.
- Don't place your accessory in areas that may get very hot, such as in a car in high temperatures, on or near a cooking surface, cooking appliance, iron, radiator or in direct sunlight. Excessive heating can damage your accessory and could cause the batteries to explode. Don't dry a wet or damp accessory with an appliance or heat source such as a microwave oven, hair dryer, iron or radiator.
- To avoid damage to your accessory, don't expose it to moisture or high humidity, temperatures outside the operating range of 32 to 95°F (0 to 35°C). Doing so may lead to damage and could be hazardous.
Liquids
- Don't let your accessory get wet or come in contact with liquids. Even though it may dry and appear to operate normally, battery contacts or circuitry could slowly corrode and pose a safety hazard.
Check your accessory regularly, including charging and connection ports

Regularly inspect your accessory for damage –including the following parts – and don't use if you see or suspect damage to:
- Electrical components (including battery compartments)
- Authorised charging cable and adapter, and if applicable, charging dock
- Other accessories, whether originally included with your Meta Quest or otherwise.
- To avoid overheating, keep electrical charging and connection ports clean, dry and free of debris. See Cleaning.WARNING
- Regularly check charging and connection ports to ensure that they don't show signs of corrosion or damage. Stop use and contact Meta Support if corrosion/damage is visible or suspected.
Cleaning
- Keep all parts of your accessory clean, cleaning regularly following instructions below. Improper cleaning can damage the accessory and may impair its operation, increasing the risk of injury or property damage.
- Use a dry microfibre cloth. Don't use chemical cleansers. Don't use alcohol. You can slightly dampen the corner of the microfibre cloth to remove surface debris. Avoid getting any moisture onto the accessory.
Explosive atmospheres
- Charging/using your accessory in any area with a potentially explosive atmosphere may be hazardous. Examples are areas where high levels of flammable chemicals, vapours or particles (such as dust, grain or metal powders) may be present. Additionally, exposing your accessory to concentrations of evaporating liquified gasses such as helium may damage or impair functionality. Obey all signs and instructions.
Repairs
- Do not attempt to repair any part of your accessory yourself. Contact Meta Quest Support for assistance.
- Only charge this accessory with the included or authorised power adapter and cable. Do not use external battery packs, power sources, charging docks, cables or power adapters to charge the batteries or power your accessory.

Batteries, charging and electric shock
Batteries, charging and electric shock
WARNING
Your accessory may be used with user-replaceable AA batteries or authorised rechargeable lithium-ion controller batteries.
- CHOKING HAZARD. This accessory is not a toy. It requires batteries, which are small parts. Keep new and used batteries away from children.
- Do not disassemble, pierce or attempt to modify AA batteries.
- Do not mix old and new AA batteries. Replace all batteries of a set at the same time.
- Risk of fire. AA batteries can explode or leak if installed backwards, disassembled, charged, crushed, mixed with used or other battery types, or exposed to fire or high temperature.
- Exhausted AA batteries may leak and damage your controllers. Remove exhausted batteries from this accessory promptly. Remove batteries before storage or extended periods of non-use. Promptly recycle or dispose of used batteries.
WARNING
Your accessory may be used with rechargeable lithium-ion controller batteries. Only charge in accordance with these warnings and other instructions. Use of a damaged Meta Quest or improper use of the batteries or power adapter may cause a fire, explosion, battery leakage, overheating or other hazard and result in serious injury or property damage. Do not use or charge your accessory if you suspect or know that it is damaged.
If battery fluid is leaking, do not allow the liquid to contact your skin or eyes. If contact occurs, wash the affected area with large amounts of water and seek medical assistance.
- Only charge rechargeable lithium-ion batteries with the Meta Quest charging dock. Do not use external battery packs, power sources, charging docs, cables or power adapters to charge this accessory. See Modifications and unauthorised hardware/software
- The rechargeable lithium-ion batteries in your headset and certain accessories are not user replaceable or serviceable. Do not attempt to access these batteries or open or repair the batteries. Contact Meta Quest Support if you need battery or power management support for your Meta Quest or authorised accessories.
- Do not attempt to charge or use an accessory if it is damaged, do not turn on after attempted charging, if they get abnormally warm when used or charged, or if the battery compartments are swollen, leaking liquid or smoking.
- Do not dispose of this accessory in a fire or incinerator, as the batteries may explode when overheated. Do not store with or dispose in general waste.

Mishandling to avoid: The following could induce battery or other electrical failure in your accessory:
- Disassembling, crushing, bending, deforming, puncturing;
- Exposing to high heat or sources of heat;
- Exposing to liquids;
- Dropping; or
- Charging or using if the device does not turn on after attempted charging.
- To reduce risk of electric shock:WARNING
- Do not modify or open any of your accessory components or expose them or any component to water/fluid.
- Do not charge your accessory if any part of the provided or authorised cables or power adapter is torn, any wires are exposed, debris is present or the battery compartments are damaged.
- Do not insert any metal, conductive materials or any foreign objects into the accessory, charging ports or charging dock.

Only use authorised charging dock, cable and power adapter with your accessory.
- Use of a USB-C cable or adapter that is not certified to support the USB power delivery (USB-PD) specification – or that provides excess charge that violates Meta Quest specifications – may damage your Meta Quest, lead to injury or impair your Meta Quest's operation.WARNING

- Overheating alert. Audible and visual alerts may indicate the headset or controllers are overheating. Immediately stop use and let the accessory cool down before continuing use.

WARNING
Using your accessory may make your muscles, joints, neck hand(s) or skin hurt. If any part of your body becomes tired or sore during or after using your accessory, or if you feel symptoms such as tingling, numbness, burning or stiffness, stop and rest at least until the symptoms go away. If the symptoms persist, consult a doctor.

Contagious conditions
Contagious conditions
To avoid transferring contagious conditions, persons with contagious conditions should not share your accessory, especially conditions such as infections or diseases, particularly of the eyes (such as pink eye), skin or scalp.
