Wrist Input Privacy Notice
Effective September 30, 2025
Meta Wrist Devices enable you to control compatible devices, such as certain AI Glasses, through various hand gestures. The technology powering the Meta Wrist Devices is explained in more detail below. Please note that availability of the Meta Wrist Devices may vary depending on your location, and this Notice applies only if available in your location.
When you wear a Meta Wrist Device, the device processes the data as described in this Notice, and in accordance with the Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy, so that you can connect with and control devices through hand gestures (e.g., controlling your Wearable Products).
The Wrist Device detects and analyzes electrical muscle signals using surface electromyography (“EMG”) sensors on the device. The EMG sensors detect the electrical activity of your muscles as you perform a gesture. The software on the Wrist Device uses these electrical muscle signals, along with accelerometer and gyroscope data (collectively, “wrist sensor data”), to detect the gesture you are performing and transform it into a digital input or command for the connected device. For example, a pinch between your index finger and thumb will send a command to a connected pair of AI Glasses, such as to play music on the glasses. The specific interaction enabled by the gesture will depend on the connected device (e.g., the AI Glasses) and the product experience you are controlling with the Meta Wrist Device.
Bug report
- If you are experiencing issues with the performance of your Wrist Device, you can initiate a help and support flow to report a bug. During that flow, you will be asked questions about what you were trying to do with the Wrist Device and may be asked to perform gestures, so Meta can better assess and fix the issue. The data that you share as part of this help and support flow (including wrist sensor data) will be sent to Meta managed servers and processed and stored for as long as needed to enable Meta to diagnose and fix the reported issue, and similar issues, as well as to improve and develop Meta Products and EMG functionality and features. The data will be associated with your account.
- When you send a bug report, your wrist sensor data is stored until you delete the data or you delete your account. You can request deletion of the wrist sensor data you provided in bug reports by going to https://help.meta.com/support/privacy.
