Voice Dictation Privacy Notice
Effective September 5, 2025
When you use Voice Dictation, we process a recording of your voice to create a text transcript of what you say. Once we complete the dictation (that is, transcribe your voice to text), we delete the voice recording and transcript immediately, unless you choose to provide feedback on your Voice Dictation experience or have Meta Quest Dictation improvements turned on. Because your Voice Dictation recordings and transcripts are not stored by default, you will not see them in your Activity Log.
If you opt-in to improve Meta Quest Dictation, we store recordings of your voice dictations and transcripts on your device and use them for on-device machine learning to improve the Voice Dictation feature. Your voice dictations and transcripts will not be shared with Meta. Only aggregated, de-identified information related to your use of this feature will be shared with Meta to improve dictation for everyone.
If you no longer want to store data to improve Meta Quest Dictation or no longer wish to use the device, you can delete your stored voice dictation data at any time by changing your Meta Quest Dictation improvement settings. Otherwise, the data will be deleted when you delete your account.
