What accessibility features are available for AI glasses from Meta?

AI glasses from Meta provide helpful utility to those with reduced vision and mobility by offering the ability to perform tasks hands-free that typically would require handling a phone. For instance, you can make an audio or video call, send a text message and take a photo all using your voice. People who are blind or low vision can use Meta AI to read text for them or describe what’s in front of them. You can even use your glasses to connect with the Be My Eyes network to get assistance from a sighted volunteer.

First, download the Be My Eyes app and log in as someone needing visual assistance. Connect your glasses to Be My Eyes in the Meta AI mobile app via Devices > Settings > Be My Eyes. Once connected, simply say, “Hey Meta, Be My Eyes”. You can also use the action button on Oakley Meta Vanguard glasses to make it even more seamless to call a volunteer. The sighted volunteer can see what your AI glasses camera captures and help with tasks like helping you navigate your surroundings.

You can use Meta AI to answer questions in the moment, get local information, and express yourself hands-free, while also taking photos and videos, calling, messaging and controlling media and volume. You can activate Meta AI on your glasses by saying "Hey Meta," or by tapping and holding the touchpad on your glasses.

Most models are prescription-ready. All Ray-Ban Meta glasses and Oakley Meta HSTN support prescription lenses. Oakley Meta Vanguard does not support prescription lenses.

  • You can manage or delete photos, videos and voice interactions anytime in the Meta View app or Account Center, or power down the glasses to ensure complete privacy. Check the Meta privacy page for more details.

Battery life depends on the glasses model. Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 1) offers up to 4 hours, while Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 2) supports up to 8 hours of use. Oakley Meta HSTN lasts up to 8 hours of typical use or 5 hours of continuous audio. Oakley Meta Vanguard delivers up to 9 hours of typical use or 6 hours of continuous audio.

Yes. The app is compatible with iOS VoiceOver and Android TalkBack.

With Meta AI and simple voice commands, you can control your phone hands-free. Make calls, send messages, play music or even call a Be My Eyes volunteer for assistance, all without lifting a finger.
