Create a Meta account for Meta Horizon
New to Meta Horizon?
A Meta account for Meta Horizon lets you log into Meta Quest devices, the Meta Horizon mobile app and more.
You can set up your Meta account for Meta Horizon using your email, Instagram account or Facebook account. In some cases, you may be able to create an account using just your birthday.
How to create a Meta account as a new user:
- Open the Meta Horizon mobile app on your phone or put on your headset and follow the on-screen instructions.
- You can also visit auth.meta.com to get started.
Create your Meta account with an email
To create a Meta account using your email address, you will need to provide:
- Email: You can only create one Meta account per email address.
- First and last name: We recommend using your real name in case you need to recover your account or manage your store purchases.
- Birthday: You need to be at least 13 years old (or the applicable age in your region) to set up and manage your own Meta account. If you are between 10 and 12 (or the applicable age in your region), then you need a Meta account that’s managed by a parent or guardian.
- Password: This must be at least 8 characters. Avoid passwords that someone could easily guess.
If you’re creating your account with just your birthday, you only need to provide your birthday and a password to start. You will need to add your contact information in order to keep using your Meta account. Any accounts without contact information added after 45 days will become inactive. Inactive accounts will be deleted after 30 days.
Your Meta account information isn’t public. You can manage how you appear with your Meta Horizon profile.
After creating your Meta account, you can add or remove this account from the same Accounts Center as your Facebook and Instagram accounts at any time.
Create your Meta account with Facebook and Instagram
If you choose to set up a Meta account with Facebook or Instagram, you will have access to connected experiences, like finding your Instagram followers to play games.
When you create a Meta account with Facebook or Instagram, your Meta account will be added to the same Accounts Center as your Facebook or Instagram account. You can always choose to remove accounts from the same Accounts Center or disable connected experiences.
Visit the Facebook or Instagram help centers if you’re having trouble logging into those accounts.
Multiple Meta accounts
You can have more than one Meta account, but:
- Each account requires a unique email address, Facebook account or Instagram account that are not already part of the same Accounts Center.
- Each account can have one Meta Horizon profile, and you can add up to 3 additional Meta Horizon profiles to your Meta Quest. A Meta Horizon profile is your social presence on Meta Horizon and how you appear to others.
- Eligible apps you purchase are only available to others through App Sharing on Meta Quest.
Set up a passcode
