  • Username is not available: Choose a different username. Username must:
    • Be between 3-30 characters in length
    • Contain at least one letter
    • Start and end with a letter or number
    • Only use numbers, letters, underscores and full stops
    • Not have consecutive underscores or periods
  • There is already an account with this email address: Choose a different email address.

If you're adding additional profiles to your headset

Before adding an additional profile to your Meta Quest headset, the person will need to create a Meta account and Meta Horizon profile, if they don't already have them.

To switch between profiles, put on your headset and select the profile you want to use. You can also select your profile in the universal menu, then select Switch profile.

If you're being asked for a device code that you can't find

If you're wearing your headset, look for the code on your screen.

  • If your headset is working, you may be able to exit the screen asking you for a device code. Press Meta button or Oculus button on your right Touch controller to exit the screen.
  • If your headset isn't working, please try the troubleshooting tips in the following sections.

If you created a Meta account, but your apps and data are missing

Use your Facebook or Instagram login

  • If you previously logged in to your Meta Quest using your Facebook or Instagram login information, then log in to your headset using your Facebook or Instagram login. This ensures that information like your previously purchased apps and existing data are associated with your new Meta account.
    • Don't select Continue with email address. If you do, a new Meta account will be created that doesn't contain apps and data that you've downloaded in the past.
    • If this happens, you can delete this Meta account and set up a new Meta account using your Facebook or Instagram login information.

Continue without Facebook

  • If you selected Continue without Facebook while setting up a new Meta account, do not log in to the account using your Facebook or Instagram login information. Doing so may create an additional Meta account that doesn't have your apps and data associated with it.
  • If you accidentally selected Continue without Facebook:
    1. Go to auth.meta.com and click Continue with Facebook to log in to the additional Meta account.
      • If you are prompted to create a new Meta account, skip to step 3.
    2. Go to accountscenter.meta.com and remove your Facebook account from this Accounts Centre.
    3. Go to auth.meta.com and click Continue with email address using the email address associated with your Facebook and Meta accounts.
    4. Once you've logged in with your previous account, go to https://accountscenter.meta.com/connected_experiences/single_sign_on and add your Facebook account to this Accounts Centre.

If you're having problems after creating a Meta account

If you're having problems after setting up a Meta account, here are a few things that you can try:

  • Restart your headset, then connect the Meta Horizon app to your headset. Make sure that Bluetooth on your phone is turned on.
  • Log out of the devices where you're currently logged in.
    • In your headset, you should now see instructions for how to log back in. Follow the on-screen instructions. After you log back in, your device should restart. If it does not, you can manually restart your headset.
  • If you're having problems with an additional Meta account on your device, remove and then re-add the account.
  • Learn how to manage the email address associated with your Meta account.
  • Perform a hard reboot by holding down the power button for 30 seconds, until you hear the device turn back on.
  • Updating your device using the software update tool . This tool lets you update your device's software, even when the device itself is unresponsive.
