Troubleshoot casting to a screen with Meta Quest

If you are unable to cast to your mobile phone or tablet:

  • Log in to your Meta account and to the Meta Horizon mobile app on the mobile device you want to cast to. Make sure that you are logged in to the same account as on your Quest device.
  • Confirm that your headset and the device that you're casting to are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • If you are still unable to cast, restart your headset, phone and the device that you're casting to.
  • Check for software updates on your devices.
  • If you still can't cast, restart your Wi-Fi router.

If you are unable to cast to a web browser:

  • Make sure that you're logged in with the same account on your browser. You can log in at oculus.com/casting.

If you are unable to cast to a Chromecast enabled devices

  • Make sure your TV supports Chromecast and that Chromecast is enabled in your TV settings. Learn more about enabling chromecast.
  • If your network has two bands, confirm your devices are on the same Wi-Fi band. We recommend using a 5GHz or 6GHz band instead of 2.4GHz for faster performance.
  • Make sure the date and time of your Chromecast device is accurate.

If you are casting to a PC through Meta Quest Link:

  • Make sure that you've set up Meta Quest Link on your PC, and your PC is on and connected to the same network.

Known issues

  • Certain mesh networks and corporate or certificate-based networks may not support casting due to blocks for security purposes. These blocks are common on home guest networks, corporate and commercial networks (e.g. at a hotel or airport), and some cellular tethering systems. If you can't connect your casting device and headset to each other, please try a different network.
  • TVs with built-in Chromecast or other smart functionality may be supported, but compatibility isn't guaranteed with all models.
  • You may experience issues when casting and recording simultaneously.
  • Casting may increase battery usage or degrade in-app performance.
