Send and receive app gifts from the Meta Horizon Store

You can send and receive app gifts from the Meta Horizon Store using your Meta Quest headset, the Meta Horizon app or the Meta Horizon Store website.

When sending a gift, make sure that you're purchasing the app for the correct device.

Send app gift

To send an app gift:

  1. Open the Meta Horizon app, then tap Search.
  2. Find and select the app you want to send as a gift.
  3. Select the gift box at the top of your screen.
  4. Find the recipient or enter their name or email address, then tap their name.
  5. Tap Continue if you're not connected to the person.
  6. Enter an optional gift note, then tap Next.
  7. Tap Confirm to complete your purchase.

To see a list of app gifts that you've sent:

  1. On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
  2. Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
  3. Swipe down and tap Manage gifts.
  1. Go to the Meta Horizon Store from your browser.
  2. After selecting the app you want to send, click More.
  3. Click Gift this app.
  4. From the Buy gift window, enter your friend's email in the To: field.
  5. Enter an optional gift note, then click Next to go to the payments page and complete the purchase.
  1. Press Meta button / Oculus button on your controller to open the universal menu.
  2. Select Meta Horizon Store.
  3. Find and select the app you want to send as a gift.
  4. Select the gift box next to the app's price.
  5. Find the recipient or enter their name or email address, then tap their name.
  6. Enter an optional gift note, then select Continue.
  7. Tap Confirm to complete the purchase.

Redeem app gift

To redeem a gift sent to you:

  1. When someone sends you a gift, you'll receive an email. You may also get a notification from the Meta Horizon app.
  2. Open the email and copy the 25-digit code.
  3. Navigate to the purchase page in the Meta Horizon app for the app you were gifted.
  4. Tap Options, then tap Redeem gift.
  5. Enter the 25-digit code, then tap Submit.

To see a list of app gifts that you've redeemed:

  1. On your phone, open the Meta Horizon app.
  2. Tap Menu at the top of your Horizon Feed.
  3. Swipe down and tap Manage gifts.
  1. When a friend sends you a gift, you'll receive an email. Open the email message and copy the 25-digit code.
  2. Navigate to the purchase page for the app you were gifted.
  3. Click Redeem gift.
  4. In the window that pops up, enter the code then click Submit.

When you accept a gift in your headset, your 25-digit redemption code will show up automatically.

  1. When someone sends you a gift, you'll receive a notification in your headset. Select the notification to go to the purchase page for the gifted app.
    • If you accidentally dismissed the notification, you can view it again by selecting Notifications from your universal menu.
  2. From the purchase page, select View gift.
  3. Follow the instructions to accept the gift and install it on your headset.

If you're looking for a gift that you've received but haven't redeemed yet, check your email for a message from do_not_reply@mail.oculus.com that includes the 25-digit code to redeem your gift.

Pricing and availability

App gift pricing

When you purchase an app gift for a friend, the price of the app will be the public standard offer. This means that while you may have received an app for free (such as in a cross-buy promotion) the price you'll pay to gift the app will be the current public standard price.

App gift availability

Gifted apps may be restricted by location. This means that your friend must have the app available in their country. Please note that gifted apps are only intended for use in supported countries, and gifted apps may not be accessible outside of, and may vary among and within, supported countries.

Notes:

  • App gift codes can only be redeemed once, and are redeemable by anyone who has access to them.
  • If a gift you send is not redeemed by the person you sent it to within 30 days, it will expire automatically and the refund will go back to you.
  • If you send a gift to the wrong email address and need to cancel it, please contact Meta Store support for assistance.
  • Only the person who received the gift can request to return it, unless otherwise required by applicable law. The refund will go to the person who purchased the gift. Learn more about returning app gifts.
