Learn about Early Access apps in the Meta Horizon Store

Early Access apps in the Meta Horizon Store are apps that are currently in development.

These apps offer you the opportunity to get involved in the game development process by interacting with them and sharing feedback with their developers. Apps in Early Access have an Early Access label.

Keep in mind that Early Access apps are still in development, so they may not be as polished as the full version.

Difference between Early Access apps and pre-orders

Purchasing an Early Access app works the same as purchasing a fully launched app. It is not the same as pre-ordering the app.

If you purchase an app in Early Access, you have full access to the app in its current state. You’ll keep your access to the app after the full version launches.

When you pre-order an app, you do not have full access to the app until it launches.

Share feedback with developers

The best way to share feedback with developers about your experience and the performance of their Early Access app is by leaving a review on the app’s page in the Meta Horizon Store.

Your review will be marked as an Early Access review if it’s published while the app is in Early Access. Your review will continue to have this label even after the app launches, unless you edit your review.

Things to know

  • Early Access apps may undergo frequent updates. Check out the Updates section on the app’s Store web page to stay up to date on the latest release notes and news from the developer.
  • There’s no time limit for how long an app can be in Early Access. Developers decide when to move an app out of Early Access.
  • Some developers may never release a full version of their app.
  • You may receive a lower price for purchasing an app while it’s in Early Access. The price of the app may increase when the full version launches, however, you don’t need to re-purchase the app or pay the difference.
  • Refunds for Early Access apps work the same as refunds for any other app. Learn more about refunds.
