‘Forefront’ Hits Early Access Today With Epic-Scale 32-Player VR FPS Combat
Forefront had previously only been available in a few limited playtests to test out the game and put the servers through their paces, but as of right now, it’s become officially available for everyone to play in its early access period.
Development is still ongoing through this period and the game is not complete yet, but the developers are eager for more community feedback as the game continues to expand and improve. Forefront is expected to fully launch out of early access sometime next year in 2026.
For those unaware, Forefront is an epic-scale VR FPS featuring huge battlefields and matches with up to 32-players (two teams of 16) fighting it out using all manner of weaponry, vehicles, gadgets, and more on semi-destructible environments. The world of Forefront is a constant warzone with the O.R.E. Mercenaries battling the Coalition Forces across four distinct maps: Iceland, Siberia, Mauritania, and Paradise. That means two new maps compared to the previous beta period.
Forefront is developed by Triangle Factory, the same team behind smash-hit tactical shooter Breachers, but their latest game offers a much larger and more non-stop approach to VR shooter action. With 20 different customizable weapons, 10 vehicles across land, air, and sea, and four classes to choose from there’s plenty to keep players busy for an early access period. Forefront also features an in-depth progression system allowing players to gradually gain access to more options and gadgets, like anti-aircraft missiles for Engineers, and additional weapon customization unlocks such as optic enhancements, different barrels and side rails, or even magazine expansions.
Teamwork is crucial in a shooter this massive with every class offering something specific and unique. For example, players who pick the medic class can revive fallen teammates, so the best squads will take advantage of the unique skills offered by each class.
Forefront is one of the most ambitious VR shooters to date and you can check it out for yourself in early access starting today. For players who get the game during the early access period, there’s also a shiny golden gun skin included as a little bonus.
