New PvP Shooter ‘Frenzies’ Is Out in Early Access for Free on Meta Quest Today, Play Better with These Tips from the Developers

Let the games begin! FRENZIES launches on Early Access today, exclusively on Meta Quest, and you can play it totally for free.

FRENZIES is the new chaotic multiplayer shooter from developer Near Light and publisher nDreams that fuses nDreams’ critically acclaimed precision gunplay with the mayhem of multiplayer. Each five-round match in FRENZIES is a chaotic lucky dip of iconic and unconventional, solo and team-based round types and a medley of neon-soaked arenas. From the tense Red Light, Green Light to the brilliantly absurd Glitter Pig there’s something for everyone, and the momentum of each match can swing in an instant.

To help you hit the ground running when you step into the arena for the first time, we caught up with the game’s design director, Pete Newing, from Near Light to get his top tips to eclipse the competition in FRENZIES.

Take note of the objective at the start of each new round. Whether it is hunting a VIP or holding fast on a dancefloor for as long as possible, knowing what the goal is and working to achieve it is the best way to maximize point scoring potential for your team but, more importantly, for yourself.

You could of course go off on your own and do whatever you want, but not every game mode is the same and the best way to secure the win for your team is to pay careful attention to the actual objective of each match.

The rising tide lifts us all, so work with your teammates when you have them. Stick together, defend one another, revive fallen comrades, and coordinate your assaults to complete objectives. However, trust no-one to miss an opportunity to get ahead of you if the opportunity arises!

FRENZIES is not always a team-based game, but when it is, you’d really benefit from leaning on friendlies if given the chance.

Select the right weapons for each round. Some arenas force close quarter combat, favoring guns that pack a punch at short range. Others allow you to fight from afar, making accuracy and ammo capacity more valuable.

To be safe, balance your loadout with a pair to suit any affair. Return to the lobby when you respawn to switch up your arsenal if it isn't working for you.

As well as having holsters on your hips, you can grab weapons from over your shoulders too. This can make it easy to swap weapons in a split second with one hand, while the other is occupied grabbing cover, capturing an objective, or wrangling a pig. Try it out and feel bad ass while doing it!

Chain together movements from one piece of cover to another to dart around the arena quickly. Dashing into cover by reaching out and grabbing a handle in range doesn’t use up stamina, allowing you to reserve your energy for dashing over and out of cover or across open areas.

This fluidity of movement is a big part of the moment-to-moment gameplay in FRENZIES and really sets the game apart. You should always be looking ahead to what your next move will be to keep the enemy guessing.

Looking magnificent in the arena is a sure-fire way to intimidate your opponents. Find yourself some fancy threads and pimp your weapons to express your own unique style and forge an iconic image to be remembered and revered by rival contenders!

They always say if you look good then you shoot good—or something like that.

Don’t beat around the bush—be brave and bold! Many rounds will see you playing for a team, but, at the end of the day, you’re competing for the top spot on the match scoreboard against all other players, so play to win every time you step in the arena.

Teamwork does make the dream work, like we said, but going above and beyond your own limitations is where real legends are made.
