Meta Horizon Worlds v116 Release Notes: Build Mode Gets an Upgrade
Meta Horizon Worlds v116 is here! Today’s release is all about Build mode, with improvements to help creators make sure visitors experience their vision when visiting their worlds. Let’s dive in.
Build Mode, Better Than Ever
We’ve heard from creators that debugging worlds is difficult because what was created in Build mode didn’t always match what visitors were experiencing. So for starters, we’ve eliminated any differences you may have seen between Build mode and Visit mode—now, what you see is what you get. Additionally, creators who’ve been testing this feature have seen improved stability, better performance, and an overall better collaborative experience with others. All creators should see this feature roll out today.
Some other noteworthy Build mode updates:
Selections & Collaborators: In Build mode, when a collaborator selects an object, it’ll now be tinted dark instead of having a bounding box around it. If you try to grab an object your collaborator is using, you’ll get a notification that someone else is using that object.
Selecting & Manipulating Objects: We’re giving you more precision and control when selecting grouped objects. For example, to select an entire tree (the grouped object), you can now select any of the individual objects it’s made of, like the trunk, roots, or canopy. Once you’ve selected the grouped object, you’ll still use the bounding box to grab, move, rotate, and scale.
Snapping to Groups: Snapping to an object in a group will make the entire group’s bounding box and snap points visible. Once the group’s bounding box is visible, you can snap to it as well.
Reducing Head-Lock: Sometimes duplicating, undoing, or deleting several objects at once may take a few seconds to process. When this happens, you and your collaborators will see a notification in the world and on your controllers advising you to wait before continuing to edit your world.
