Meta Horizon Worlds v155 Release Notes

Meta Horizon Worlds v155 is here! This week, spring is entering the chat (a.k.a. Horizon Central). We also improved the hands-free drone camera by adding a new vantage point for capturing content, plus we’re rolling out a handful of bug fixes. Let’s dive in!

Spring is coming to Horizon Central!

Starting tomorrow, March 27, we’re kicking off Spring Fest—a four-week-long seasonal event in Horizon Central.

Throughout the event, you’ll be able to unlock spring-themed rewards by participating in a butterfly catching contest and other limited time quests. The team has been hard at work, and we’re excited to include a number of surprises throughout. (Hint: Keep an eye out for a slate of bonus rewards.) Check back weekly for the latest updates and watch Horizon Central bloom!

As part of Spring Fest, we’re also testing a new feature that will help you track your progress towards completing quests associated with these types of events in Worlds. For those in the test group, the “progress bar” will appear at the top of the Horizon menu. Don’t worry if you don’t see the progress bar though—you can always check the Quest menu to track your progress towards those exciting rewards!

Quality of Life Improvements

Updates to how you can capture content hands-free in Worlds: We initially released the drone camera at the end of last year with the ability to capture video content hands-free from over your shoulder. Now, in addition to this third-person view, you can shift the drone’s location to record in selfie mode. And when using the drone camera, you’ll now see the virtual 3D drone flying nearby, with its position based on the mode you choose.

Quick camera tip: Did you know you can quickly snap a photo in Worlds by holding your hands out in front of you in the “camera gesture”? Try it next time you’re exploring or want to capture a moment with friends!

Highlighted Bug Fixes

Here are some highlighted bug fixes for this week’s release.

General

  • We fixed a bug where the avatar would occasionally be poorly lit in the mirror in Welcome Island.
  • We fixed a bug where issues (including falling through the floor) occurred after arriving in Welcome Island if players opened the main menu bar while launching Worlds.
  • We fixed the styling of the scroll bar in the Settings menu.
  • We have addressed a bug that was sending some people to the wrong instance of a world after clicking a link to join their friends. Now, when clicking an invite link and jumping into Worlds in VR, mobile, or web, you should land in the correct instance with the person that invited you. (Note that the world’s capacity limit still applies, so if the instance fills up, you will have to wait for someone to leave before you can join.)

Creators

  • We fixed a bug where the onPlayerExitAFK event was firing incorrectly while players joined an instance.
