Meta Horizon Worlds v161 Release Notes

|

Meta Horizon Worlds V161 is here! This week includes a new quality of life feature that enables players on web and mobile to carry more than one item at a time on their person and use the on-screen controls to select which one to equip, alongside a number of experiments to improve the experience both in and out of worlds. We also fixed an issue where creators would collide with objects in Build mode, as well as some bugs that were impacting those on web and mobile.

Quality of Life Improvements

New holstering system on web and mobile

This week, we’re introducing a new holstering system for web and mobile that enables you to quickly cycle between and equip multiple items on your adventures.

We’ve added a new “Holster” button that appears on-screen automatically for mobile users when there are several grabbable items attached to your avatar. This menu will show all of the items you’re holding in any world, enabling you to quickly look through them all and easily select what you need.

For web players, we’ve also added some easy shortcuts:

  • The Holster menu can be opened by pressing ‘Z’.
  • The number keys 1 - 6 will automatically equip items without opening the menu, enabling you to quickly switch between them without interruption.

General

  • The "Save" button is now disabled when no changes have been made in the Edit Profile page.
  • The team is also running a few experiments, including:
    • Showing a world’s key art in the link preview (i.e. what shows up when a world link is shared with others) rather than just the Horizon logo.
    • Displaying an on-screen indication of the microphone status as either “On” or “Muted” to help reduce accidental audio.
    • Using new icon sizes in the main menu to enable people to see more worlds at once when scrolling for their next destination.

Highlighted Bug Fixes

Here are some highlighted bug fixes for this week’s release.

Horizon Worlds on Web and Mobile

  • We fixed an issue where pressing the interaction key (‘E’) while a text input was highlighted in focused mode would exit focused mode.
  • We fixed an issue where sprinting caused changes to the camera field of view even when a scripted camera was active.
  • We changed the rotation style of the avatar in a fixed camera so you don't stand on the spot only rotating your head—now you'll rotate your whole body instead.

Creators

  • We fixed an issue with players colliding with objects while in Build mode

Select Known Issues

Here are some of the known issues the Worlds team is currently investigating.

General

  • When invited to another player's home world, players will sometimes get an error immediately after arriving saying that the host is no longer present (even if they are) and the visiting player gets kicked to their home world.
  • When the player is in a world on desktop or mobile, the audio coming from the video stream is based on the camera's placement rather than the avatar. Because of this, the player may face away from the video screen and still hear the audio at top volume.

Creators

  • When parenting or unparenting an object, if any interactive option is set, the hierarchy breaks and jumps in position.
