Update: Meta Horizon Worlds v165 is delayed. You should see the update within the next 24 hours.

Meta Horizon Worlds v165 is here! This week, we have a few quality of life improvements, including the ability to invite more than one person at a time to another world, updates to how we enforce world memory limits (to help avoid causing app crashes), and a new real-time performance metric tool for creators, as well as some bug fixes. Let’s dive in!

Quality of Life Improvements

General

Travel with others more easily

We’re introducing some updates to our invite feature to make it easier for you to meet up with friends in Worlds. Now you can invite multiple friends to travel with you at once, instead of having to invite them one by one.

To invite multiple friends at once, head to the right-hand social panel and choose Invite or Join. Then you can choose who you want to invite and where you want to go, including your current world. We’re rolling this improvement out gradually, so it may not be available to everyone while in testing.

Creators

  • Updates to world memory limits: Starting July 12, 2024, we will begin enforcing a new memory limit for all worlds. This is an important measure towards our ongoing efforts to enhance performance and the end-user experience, as worlds over memory limits risk causing the app to crash.

If a world is over the 6 GB memory limit, creators will no longer be able to add additional primitives and assets or publish their world. We also recommend that creators ensure their already-published worlds are within these limits. We understand that this change requires adjustments to some worlds, so to help creators understand their worlds’ memory usage, we’re also excited to release the new real-time performance metric tool!
  • Real-time performance metric tool: With this tool, creators can better understand the memory usage of their worlds and view performance metrics while in Build (Edit + Preview) and Visit modes in VR, as well as the overall world FPS (frames per second) and the metrics that impact their world’s FPS. The real-time metrics panel can be accessed from the Utilities menu, which can be enabled in Settings. Once enabled, the real-time metrics will show up on the wearable. We want to provide this tool with ample lead time so you can optimize and make any necessary changes before the new world memory limits go into effect.

Highlighted Bug Fixes

Here are some highlighted bug fixes for this week’s release.

General

  • We fixed a bug which showed white icons for the buttons in the camera when they should be black.
  • Recommended people that are suggested for you to follow when you visit another person's profile can now be dismissed.
  • We fixed a bug on web and mobile where the UI attached to the player could block interaction with in-world objects behind it.

Creators

  • We fixed a bug that could cause items spawned at world startup to fail to fire their completion callback.

Select Known Issues

Here are some of the known issues the Worlds team is currently investigating.

General

  • Sometimes Meta Quest notifications are inaccurate and indicate that a friend is online in Worlds when they are not (and vice versa).

Creators

  • Setting a player’s gravity to 0 makes them fall slower but does not stop them from falling.
  • The Text Gizmo doesn't display emoji characters.
