Meta Horizon Worlds v166 Release Notes
Meta Horizon Worlds V166 is here! This week we’re testing out a few quality of life improvements, including adding more information on world detail pages and a new type of invite link to get together with friends, as well as announcing when more worlds are coming to mobile and web. Read on to learn more!

Quality of Life Improvements
General
- We’re running an experiment that includes more information on the world detail page to make it easier for people to learn about a world they find on Horizon Feed prior to traveling there. In addition to the world description, we’ll also include information like the number of likes, genre, the number of users currently in the world, creator info, and more.
- New meetup invite links: The team is currently testing a new type of invite link to make it easier for you and your friends to get together in worlds, whether in VR or on mobile! After creating and sharing your meetup link, your friends will travel into a closed instance of the world that you invited them to upon clicking the link—meaning that only the people that have this link will be able to jump into the world together. While this feature is still in testing, some people will not see the new meetup link option.
- To create a meetup link:
- In VR: Travel to a world and open the world’s detail page. Click Invite, and those in the test group will see a new option in the dropdown menu, Create a meetup. Share this link out to your friends or community.
- From mobile: Search for the world and open its detail page (you do not need to travel to the world first). Click the Invite icon (next to the Share icon) and choose Create a meetup from the dropdown menu. Share this meetup link with your friends and jump into the world together!
- Additional info:
- Once generated, meetup links will be active for 30 days.
- The person who generated the meetup link does not have to be present in the world for it to work, and for everyone to travel to the same place.
- To create a meetup link:
Creators
- Worlds on web and mobile: Starting June 26, 2024, all worlds will be available on web and mobile by default to reach more people, no matter what device they are on. Exceptions to this default extension to web and mobile include members-only worlds and worlds with In-World Purchases.
- To help world builders create or adjust their existing worlds for web and mobile, we are providing code-blocks and detailed documentation in the Help Center.
- If world creators prefer to choose when their worlds are extended to web and mobile, they can navigate to the “Publish World” tab in the VR editor and toggle “Available through web and mobile” on or off at any time. For more details, please refer to the Help Center.
