Stone Age Survival: ‘Neolithic Dawn’ Launches on Meta Quest

The Stone Age — a time of great danger and a time of great change. An era where the right piece of obsidian, wielded wisely, can tilt the balance of power, giving humanity an edge against the dire wolves and other fearsome foes that lurk in the wilderness. Do you have what it takes to survive?

Neolithic Dawn emerges from Early Access today, putting the finishing touches on this ambitious Stone Age survival game. Become a hunter-gatherer at the dawn of the agricultural age, struggling to stay alive in a world that wants you dead. Forage for food, gather water, build a fire — take care of your basic needs or succumb to the challenges of a hostile epoch.

Your only advantage? Human ingenuity. You can tame and domesticate Neolithic Dawn’s wild animals, turning them from foe to friend. And of course, you can use the materials at-hand to carve spears, craft shelters, and more, as you slowly beat back the wilderness and create a more congenial environment for you and your family.

Yes, your family. The most interesting hook in Neolithic Dawn is that every time you die, you take over the next generation, decades into the future. Become your son or daughter, as they carry on creating a more perfect world for humanity — though the world also changes in your absence.

It’s dangerous out there, so Neolithic Dawn also features four-player co-op, so you can watch each others’ backs while hunting — or maybe even take down a woolly mammoth together, as depicted in the cave paintings of old.

During Early Access, Neolithic Dawn added a more robust tutorial (and important backstory for your character), made co-op more stable, and rolled out a litany of fixes and balance patches. For 1.0, you can expect a conclusion to the main story, now set across five open world regions to explore. And once you reach the end, you can continue your lineage, revisit past areas, and see what’s changed. That’s in addition to stability improvements and bug fixes, plus a spectator camera for recording your exploits in-game.

Ready to travel back to a time when spears were cutting-edge technology? Neolithic Dawn is available now on the Meta Horizon Store.
