New ‘Synth Riders’ Experience Brings Barbie™ to Life in Mixed Reality

Bruno Mars. Muse. Gorillaz. Barbie™...? What do they all have in common? As of today, they are all in Synth Riders. On top of that, Barbie brings something different with our latest Synth Riders Experience! We’re taking advantage of the mixed reality features of Meta Quest 3 and 3S to transform your living room into a Barbie dream. This is Synth Riders Experience™ – Barbie™ Dance ’n Dream.

You’ll soak in rays at the beach, groove at the roller disco, and dance through Barbie dreams. This unique, immersive musical VR journey is choreographed to the K-pop hit “Barbie Dreams (feat. Kaliii)” by FIFTY FIFTY, from Barbie™ the Album.

Synth Riders Experiences usually fully surround you. Same here. This time, though, you can also mix it up with a mixed reality mode. We wanted to have some fun blurring the lines between a Barbie dream world and the real one.

A Barbie box literally opens to become a free-flowing portal right in your play space. Notes and rails erupt from this Barbie-fueled portal, and so do all these power pink elements from the dreamscape Experience. In fact, this is the first time the Barbie IP is featured in a mixed reality game.

“If done right, mixed reality games and content bring a sense of intimacy by placing itself into your home,” adds our Associate Creative Director Jaime Nunez-Lopez. “Making the Barbie box appear in your room and transforming it into a portal? Well, that was just a no-brainer! That box is really iconic... and who wouldn’t want to have a human-size Barbie box in their living room?”
