This feature is currently only available on Windows

With Meta Quest, you can cast the Meta Quest headset to the Meta Quest Link PC app and have the casting output appear as a webcam output, allowing for seamless integration with PC streaming software like OBS (Open Broadcasting Software).

To cast from Meta Quest to OBS:

  1. Setup and connect your headset with Meta Quest Link.
  2. From your PC, open Meta Quest Link.
  3. From Meta Quest Link, click Devices and find your connected Quest device.
  4. Click Cast.
  5. From your PC, Launch OBS.
  6. From OBS, in the Sources tab, click the + button, then click Add a Video Capture Device.
  7. Choose your connected device type, then click OK.

Read the Resolution Change section if you want to change the resolution in OBS.

To add casting audio in OBS:

From OBS, Add and Choose the audio output device in your PC. Usually it is Speaker or headphones, whichever can hear the audio from your PC. As long as the casting outputs the audio to your PC device, you can capture it from your OBS normally.

Resolution change

  1. From OBS, Right click the quest Video Capture Device, Click Properties.
  2. Choose Resolution/FPS Type to be Custom, and change the resolution. Each device supports 3 different resolutions.

If you see video freeze, select Deactivate and Activate the video capture device in OBS.

Note: the largest resolution is the wide FOV one which requires restarting the oculus app and takes a few seconds.

Troubleshooting

Blank or black screen

  • In OBS, select Deactivate and Activate on the the Video Capture Device.
  • Delete the Video Capture Device and Add device again by following the setup steps listed above.

Silent audio

  • If Audio is silent, close OBS and check the casting window to confirm this is still producing sound.
  • Enable and disable the audio button from the casting window toolbar.
  • Launch OBS again and add the current audio output device in OBS.
