What is an advertising ID

Your advertising ID is a unique device indicator that app developers can use to show you more relevant ads on Meta Horizon.

Only developers who have permission to show ads have permission to access your advertising ID. Learn more in our App policies.

Advertising IDs may not be available to everyone.

Enable or disable your advertising ID

You can enable or disable your advertising ID at any time by going to Settings in your headset.

If you disable your advertising ID, you can still see ads in third-party apps, but they may be less relevant to you.

To enable or disable your advertising ID:

  1. Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Select Settings, then scroll down and select Privacy and safety.
  3. Select Data and analytics.
  4. Below Ads preferences, use the toggle next to Personalize ads in apps to enable or disable your advertising ID.

Reset your advertising ID

You can replace your current advertising ID with a new one. Your new advertising ID will be used to personalize ads, and we will replace your previous advertising ID. Developers won’t be able to access your previous advertising ID.

To reset your advertising ID:

  1. Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
  2. Select Settings, then scroll down and select Privacy and safety.
  3. Select Data and analytics.
  4. Below Ads preferences, select Reset next to Reset advertising ID.
