‘BlackGate’ Adds New Content, Skins, and More in Full Launch Update, Out Now

BlackGate has quickly risen to popularity among fans of asynchronous multiplayer VR games with its bold and creative mixture of both competitive and co-op gameplay. From Fun Train and VR Monkey, this cosmic horror experience is equal parts terrifying and liberating with its grotesque creature and large, open maps to explore.

Previously, BlackGate got a free-to-play mode that offered a more condensed version of the game experience dubbed the Fresh Meat tier. Now, with the game’s full launch, that mode will continue to be offered while the full game expands in some big ways.

For starters, there are all-new progression goals getting added into the game to reward players for playing consistently. All in all, this includes skins for both alien players as well as engineer players who want to trick out their suits in fun, stylish new ways.

Lobby areas are also getting upgrades as well with mini-games to enjoy between rounds, or even to just use as social hangouts. Many fans have compared BlackGate to the beloved Echo Arena, both in terms of gravity-defying sci-fi antics and focus on immersive, engaging multiplayer gameplay—it’s clear to see why, since the developers were directly inspired by Echo Arena and Dead by Daylight.

BlackGate is available now on the Meta Horizon Store. The Fresh Meat tier is available as a limited free-to-play experience to let you try out the game, and the full version has much more content with even more things to do in the works including new alien evolutions.
