Meta automatically collects different categories of data and uses it for different purposes, including to ensure your Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products work as intended, to implement your settings, and to maintain safety, security and integrity.
Meta also collects anonymized data about your device usage for things like building better experiences and improving Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products.
You can choose to share additional data about how you use your Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products to improve these products and better personalize your experiences.
We provide more details about the data we collect and the choice you have below.
Ensure that your Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products are working as intended. Examples of this data include:
Bluetooth connectivity status
Battery status and condition
Wi-Fi connectivity status
Errors or crashes that occur
Application status and performance
Personalize your Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products based on your settings. Examples of this data include:
Your settings on your Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products
Data to rank and recommend content in the Meta Horizon Store, depending on your age
Help maintain safety, security and integrity. Examples of this data include:
Your email address and password, which are required to authenticate you with Meta
Information about hardware performance
Data associated with potential security intrusions
Data determining whether necessary software updates are in place
Data used to respond proactively or reactively to potential abuse or policy violations, like interactions submitted as part of an abuse report
Anonymized data
We also collect data that is anonymized so it does not identify you. We use this data to improve Meta Quest devices and Meta Horizon products, build better user experiences, and for the other reasons we use your information as described in the Supplemental Meta Platforms Technologies Privacy Policy. How you configure your Home environment to help us determine which environments are popular with users
How often and how you use an application to help us understand which applications are popular with users
Which features you use in our products, like if you use full-screen mode in the browser or if you’ve achieved a goal in Move
Analytics regarding product, accessory and application use and performance. For example, the number of eye-tracking calibration errors in order to improve the feature generally.
Data to improve app and feature performance, such as:
Data about how well our apps or features are working to help us improve them, like how long it takes an application to load, or how fast you are typing and how often swipe typing is correctly interpreted when you use the keyboard
More data about your hardware beyond what is needed for it to function, like the manufacturer of the battery
Analytics regarding products and feature performance and usage to help us improve features and develop new products and features
Feedback from Voice Dictation, if you choose to provide feedback on your Voice Dictation experience or have dictation improvements turned on. Note: When you use Voice Dictation, we delete the voice recording and transcription immediately, unless you choose to provide feedback or have dictation improvements turned on.
You can choose to share additional data during your initial setup and can change your choice at any time in Settings.
To change your choice in Settings:
Put on your headset, then hover over the clock on the left side of the universal menu. When Quick Settings appears, select it to open the Quick Settings panel.
Select Settings, then select Privacy and safety.
Select Data and Analytics, then select your preference by using the toggle next to Share additional data.

Manage what additional information is shared from your child’s Meta account
You can choose to share additional data during the initial setup of your child’s Meta account. You can change your choice at any time in Family Center.
To choose whether additional data is shared from your child’s Meta account:
Select Share additional data to improve Meta Quest.
If this additional data is not currently shared, you can select between Share or Don’t share. If the additional data is currently shared, you can select Stop sharing.
