Manage website permissions using Browser on Meta Portal
You can choose to allow or block individual websites’ access to your Meta Portal’s camera, microphone and location using the Browser app.
Video conferencing websites might request permission to your Meta Portal’s camera and microphone to use them. And some maps, shopping, live TV or media streaming websites might request your Meta Portal’s location to display them.
If you choose to allow access to your Meta Portal’s camera, microphone or location, the following data can be shared with the requesting website:
- Camera: Meta Portal provides the website with access to your Meta Portal’s camera video feed.
- Microphone: Meta Portal provides the website with access to your Meta Portal’s microphone audio feed.
- Location: Meta Portal provides the website with access to the longitude and latitude coordinates of the center of the municipality where your device is located. It does this by guessing a location using your device’s IP address.
If you choose to block access to your Meta Portal’s camera, microphone or location, the website might not be able to deliver the service that you requested. For example, streaming services might not allow you to watch a video or play a song. And video calling services might not allow you to join a call or the other people on a call might not be able to see or hear you. Note that permissions can be allowed or blocked for individual websites.
