Ask your parent to add approved contacts

You can ask your parent or guardian to add someone as an approved contact.

You’ll get a notification when that person becomes your approved contact, or if your parent declines the request. If the person is 10-12 years old (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that’s managed by their parent or guardian, you’ll get a notification when both of your parents add them as an approved contact.

You must be following or be followed by someone before they can become an approved contact. If you don’t have a follow connection with the person, you can send them a follow request. If your parent manages your follow requests, then your parent must approve the request.

To ask your parent using the Meta Horizon mobile app:

  1. In the Meta Horizon mobile app, tap Horizon chat in the top right.
  2. Find the person you want to add as an approved contact, then tap Horizon chat next to their name.
  3. Tap Ask them to send the request to your parent.

Note: Make sure you’re logged into the app using your account.

To ask your parent using your Meta Quest headset:

  1. Press Meta button / Oculus button on your right Touch controller to pull up your universal menu.
  2. Select Horizon chat at the bottom, then find the person you want to add as an approved contact.
  3. Select Horizon chat next to the person's name.
  4. Select Ask them to send the request to your parent.
