Followers

If you're 10-12 years old (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that’s managed by your parent or guardian, you can follow and be followed by people. You can view your followers on your Meta Quest headset or the Meta Horizon app.

Your Meta Horizon profile is set to private and can’t be changed, which means other people must request to follow you.

Your parent can choose to manage your follow requests in Family Center on the web and in Family Center on the Meta Horizon app. If your parent doesn’t manage your follow requests, they can still see your followers and who you’re following in Family Center or the Meta Horizon app.

When your parent manages your follow requests, they can review, approve or decline your requests to follow people and other people’s requests to follow you. They can also block people for you at any time.

Following another person lets you see that person’s app activity, Active Status, and what app or destination they’re in, depending on the person's privacy settings. Examples of destinations include Meta Horizon Home and destinations within apps.

Your followers may be able to see your app activity, Active Status, and what app or destination you’re in, depending on your privacy settings.

If your Active Status is set to joinable, then your followers can join you in Meta Horizon Worlds. By default, this is limited to people you follow who also follow you back. Your approved contacts can join you in a parent-approved app or destination outside of Horizon Worlds. Note: Your parent needs to approve Meta Horizon Worlds before you can use it.

Approved contacts

Your parent can add people to be your approved contacts. Approved contacts can chat with, call, and invite or join you in a parent-approved app or destination.

Only your parent can add approved contacts. You must already be following or be followed by someone before they can become an approved contact.

You can’t send or receive images or videos. Invites to join someone in an app or destination are one-on-one, although other people who are not approved contacts can be in the same app or destination at the same time as you. Those people may be able to interact with you, depending on the app or destination. Your parent can approve or block your app download requests.

If an approved contact is 10-12 years old (age may vary by region) with a Meta account that’s managed by their parent or guardian, their parent will need to add you as a contact before you can be connected.

You and your parent can block or remove approved contacts at any time.

Privacy settings

By default, no one can see your Active Status or what app or destination you’re in. Examples of destinations include Meta Horizon Home and destinations within apps.

If you’re using the latest version of Meta Horizon, then your followers can see your app activity.

When you follow someone, you may see their app activity, Active Status, and what app or destination they’re in, depending on that person’s privacy settings.

What happens when you turn 13

When you turn 13 (age may vary by region), you will manage your own Meta account. You’ll automatically be enrolled in parental supervision, and your profile will stay private by default. You or your parent can stop supervision at any time.

You’ll keep your followers and people you follow. If your parent was managing your follow requests before you turned 13, you’ll now start managing your own follow requests.

You won’t need someone to be an approved contact to chat with, call, and invite or join you in an app or destination.
